I am -- and have done -- many things. I love life and see life as a gift from God and an adventure. I love to travel, and have traveled and lived all over the US, Europe, and the Middle East. I am a Christian (attend church every Sunday). I have been an Air Force Officer and flight crew (I've flown supersonic), a business manager, a teacher, a tax preparer, and a professional mediator (over 1200 mediation's). I've completed 3 full marathons (26.2 miles) and a dozen half-marathons (13.1 miles) (I don't have anymore marathons in me though). The best thing I've done, and the thing I am most pleased with is having been a good father. I have two adult boys (men). I am proud of each one.
Okay, I've done a few things and been a few places. But, what kind of man am I? Others have told me: I have a pleasing personality and demeanor, I'm quiet, not demanding, and well mannered. I'm kind, considerate, thoughtful, and respectful. I am intellectual, educated, and curious about people and the world. I usually avoid crowded places. I like people, but I like them better one or two at a time. I prefer to sit one-on-one and have a good conversation than be with a group of people in a crowded, loud place. Most people like me and like my company (there are some who don't, and that's okay).
I'm looking to grow a friendship and long term committed relationship (monogamous, with marriage as the ultimate (though not immediate) goal with a good woman. I love life and living and I want someone to share life and life's adventures and experiences with. I can do it by myself , but I'd much rather have company; a best friend, my partner and companion, a woman to love with all my heart, and a woman who can tell me from her heart that she loves me. I know how to love, I have before. I'll take the chance and put my heart out there! It is so very much better than going it alone.
Though I've lived and traveled all over the world I was raised in Arizona and Southern California, and after a thirty-two year absence I have returned to So Cal. There is so much to see in the world. Come with me, we'll go places and see things, maybe some places you didn't even know existed. I love a good road trip. Get in the car and drive for the weekend, or longer. Have you ever taken a trip to 'Nowhere?' I've been to 'Nowhere' more than once, but I always end up somewhere, and glad that I did. Come with me, I want my best friend and the woman I love with me to share in these trips and adventures.
I love college football (not a big pro fan). I am a Trojan fan (Fight On), have been since 1965. My son is a Georgia Tech (and USC) graduate, and we root for the Yellow-jackets too (it gets a little confusing because right now he is a third year medical student at the Univ of Georgia and we've added the Bull Dogs to our favorites list. It's like USC/UCLA, a house divided). Fair warning -- I really get into it (its a family thing, text messages fly between family members in various states as we watch games). It's only on Saturday's in the fall, and it's all about fun. We do love it. Would be nice if you could get into it too.
Life is a gift. For me it is one adventure after another. I want every day, every hour I can get. Life isn't a competition, but I'd match my life, experiences, and accomplishments against anyone's. When I look back I'm pleased. I can't see into the future, but when I look back I know the future will be just as good, and maybe better, than the past. It's all about living life the best you can. You have to take chances. I'm not perfect, I have failures and disappointments (sometimes I think I've gotten more than my share of failure and disappointment), but each time I've failed or I'm disappointed, I grow. I thank the Lord everyday.
You and me, cookin' something up. The stereo playing some good ol' rock-and-roll music, you know music that feels real good, makes you get your groove-on, and rock. You and me cooking, nibbling, tasting, and touching. When we're done cooking and eating we can light some candles, turn off the lights, and put some slow-dancing music on the stereo. You know, like Johnny Rivers and "Swaying to the Music," and Chris De Burgh's "Lady in Red." You and me, the lights down low, swaying to the music, dancing cheek to cheek, making shadows on the walls. (I'm an incurable romantic, we'll get the dishes in the morning. There are more important and pleasant things to attend to.) I don't know about you, but that makes me smile?
Movies: I like and am knowledgeable about movies. Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago, Camelot, etc. My father worked in radio and television in the 50's and 60's as a director and I learned a lot from him about television and movies.
I'm into Downton Abbey right now, on TV.
Music: 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's rock. I love that old music. Basically, I'm still a hippie. I'm a blue jeans and rock-and-roll kind of guy (I'm a little bit country too).
Food: My favorite restaurants are: Italian, Mexican, and Diners (there aren't many diners here in SoCal). Pizza is pretty high on my list of can't live life without. I'm always on the lookout for a 'non-chain good pizza place.'
2. I have to see my boy's once in a while (they're both adults and live in Georgia)
5. My laptop, cell phone, and tablet
6. Good food
I miss the sharing and caring that is part of a committed relationship. I want to go grocery shopping with you, just so I can be with you.I want to hold your hand, and maybe sneak a kiss on isle 4, and another in the vegetable section. I want to feel your touch, and when we get home I want to make love to you, maybe right there in the kitchen. (I guess we should put the perishables away first).
I know how to love, I have loved -- and I will love again. Is that private enough?
There is a quote I like -- "The cave you fear to enter holds the treasures you seek." Could it be, is it possible, that I am the treasure you seek? You will have to enter the cave to know. The first step into the cave is to message me. Come to me - take my hand - and let's love each other and explore the world together. Beats the heck out of doing it alone.
