My self-summary
I'm a pretty low-key, very chilled person hoping to meet someone to go exploring with and have grand adventures. I'm opinionated without being offending. I've learned to laugh at myself and try to make others laugh as well. I love to cook, travel (especially road trips), and read. I feel that I'm in the right place mentally and emotionally for dating, b/c at this point, it's more about what I have to offer someone else rather than what they can offer me. I enjoy supporting others and being there for them in whatever capacity I can.

Oh, and I love, love, love college football...and NPR.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to understand teenagers...
I’m really good at
I'm a pretty decent cook (notice my attempt at modesty, but it would be great to have someone to cook with/for) and I seem to know a little about a lot of things in general. It's hard to describe, but the best way to put it is I'm good with people. My 7th grade English teacher described me as charming on one of my report cards once, so you guys should take her word for it.

Oh and I tell really great stories and I am great for, as a friend once termed it, "doling out wise counsel."
The first things people usually notice about me
People initially notice how calm I am. (That's not true, they usually notice my hair first.) It seems to make them a bit uneasy at first but then they really come to appreciate my calmness after getting to know me more.

What's really funny about this is, in truth, I'm a Type A personality cleverly disguised as a Type B personality.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This could go on for a while, so for the sake of time (and your attention span) I'll give you the highlights:

Book: Some People, Some Other Place by J. California Cooper (anything by her really or Toni Morrison), Memoirs of a Geisha, and I'm really into historical fiction (Outlander series), and most recently, audio books

Movie(s): Where the Heart Is (random, I know), Fools Rush In, Anchorman, Wedding Crashers, Love Actually...but my absolute favorite is Finding Nemo (averts gaze).

And my current favorite tv shows: Community (it's sooo funny), Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, Workaholics, American Dad, Arrested Development (classic), The League, and Fringe...and by honorable mention in the guilty pleasures category: Toddlers and Tiaras

Music: Folksy-Soul (Adele, Corinne Bailey Rae, Nina Simone) Jazz, Hip Hop, the Black Keys, A Fine Frenzy, Kings of Leon, The Drums, Etta James ('Trust in Me' is one of my favorites of hers) Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, Bad Rabbits

Food: sushi, fried catfish, a good stew with bread, clementines
The six things I could never do without
1. Peace of mind
2. A true friend
3. Carmex (dry lips can keep me up at night)
4. My phone (access to information at any moment)
5. Fresh fruit (here's looking at you, pineapple)
6. Books (I'm comfortable enough to admit, that as a child I was painfully shy and my books were my only friends. I've outgrown my shyness, and now maintain healthy human relationships, but once a friend, always a friend.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything!...no seriously, my mind never turns off.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've never wrestled a bear.
