My self-summary
I grew up in DC, left for college and ended up living in a bunch of different countries. I'm back in DC now, working in public health and traveling the world.

I'm a little geeky. I love dancing (badly), cooking, watching baseball (Go Nats!), and doing anything and everything outdoors.

I'm more focused on experiences than material possessions, and have little patience for people whose goal in life is to accumulate more, better, and different stuff.
What I’m doing with my life
Cooking delicious meals. Finding the perfect way to mask the flavor of beets in a smoothie. Collecting passport stamps. Arguing with spreadsheets. Enjoying the occasional scotch. Exploring whenever and wherever possible.
I’m really good at
Making people smile. Throwing ingredients together and seeing what happens. Finding new things to learn about. Being eternally optimistic. Going on crazy adventures that have no plan but lots of promise.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
It feels like some of my favorites are opposites. I love old movies, Disney movies, and Die Hard. I love sitcoms like Modern Family and Community, but also more serious shows like The West Wing and Battlestar Galactica. I love food from everywhere, and I love books with strong female characters and well-written prose.

Requisite pop culture references: I know where your towel is. I like bow ties; bow ties are cool. I know there's money in the banana stand. I aim to misbehave.

Favorite movie: His Girl Friday
Favorite book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Favorite TV show: Firefly, Doctor Who
Favorite food: Chocolate
The six things I could never do without
Lazy mornings in bed
Very good chocolate
Intellectual curiosity
Spur-of-the-moment decisions
Travel to far-off places
The great outdoors
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I love writing: fiction, poetry, personal essays, you name it, I love writing it. I tend to spend a lot of time thinking about whatever project I'm working on.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with friends, eating good food, and unwinding at the end of the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm usually the first in line to buy tickets to the newest Disney movie.
You should message me if
You're kind of geeky, but you realize that your taste in movies or music doesn't define you.

You love being outdoors, but also love exploring museums and hole-in-the-wall shops.

You like living in DC, but you could see yourself living other places.

You can think of better ways to start conversations than "Hey" or "How's it going."
