My self-summary
I like to think I have a healthy disregard for the impossible. I love solving problems & to know how things work. From big things, like how the universe works, to something simple as why clocks tick.

Wikipedia, tvtropes and other information repositories tend to be like crack to me. I've often ended up going to bed at 8am thanks to getting lost trying to absorb every piece of information I can find.

I have a strong computers and technology bent, you'll find that my apartment is full of various gadgets and computers often in various stages of being dismantled. I've been into technology since a young age, my parents encouraged my tinkering despite the large number of household appliances which never ended up quite working properly after I'd gotten hold of them.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently a Software Engineer at Google in Sydney. I'm currently working on the Google Chrome web browser, but have previously worked in a number of other areas including Maps and Ads. The biggest positive is working with so many interesting people. Google is pretty great, I can't think of anywhere else I'd prefer to work at the moment.

I'm originally from Adelaide which I moved away from ~10 years ago. I moved to Sydney because I wanted to live in a bigger city which is more vibrant and full of life, oh and somewhere you can order pizza after 9pm! I've travelled to many places in the world and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live.

I've been luckily enough to travelled all over the world. I've travelled both for work and pleasure. Places include all over Europe, from Ireland to Turkey, many places in North America and a couple of places in Asia. I'd love to see South America and south part of Africa eventually too.

I've been lucky enough to have a great job, become financially independent and live in a great city. Recently I've been working on trying to lose weight and been branching out and trying different hobbies lately. The part of my life that is missing is someone to share it with!
I’m really good at
Taking things apart, not so much at putting them back together.
The first things people usually notice about me
I often sport a rugged rusty coloured beard despite my hair not being even red the slightest, something I've always found confusing. I guess comes from my Irish roots.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a sucker for anything science fiction related especially when vast space empires and involved. It doesn't matter if that be computer games, novels or TV series. While I do pretend to be a science fiction snob, preferring harder science fiction, I secretly enjoy fantasy in space too.

Favorite authors: Issac Assimov, Frank Herbert, Stephen Donaldson

Favorite movies: Sin City, Memento, Cypher, Vanillia Sky

Favorite TV Series:
Sci Fi: Stargate SG1, Doctor Who
Comedy: Community (I'm more into British humour, but do enjoy the occasional American comedy, 30 Rock).

Favourite food: Cheesecake.

Board games: Space Alert, Pandemic, Red Dragon Inn 2 (only if I can be Gog) and Ticket to Ride.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Nanobots and what life would be having the magic like powers they could grant - who doesn't want to live forever and have god like powers?
On a typical Friday night I am
I have a regular group of friends from work that play board games together, watch movies and generally geek out on Fridays. We are always looking for new, interesting and unusual games that we haven't played before.

A couple times a month I also help out by hosting a number of local computer user groups such as the Sydney Linux User group. We have a few talks and then head to the pub to socialise afterwards.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a soft toy collection (mostly of giant microbes).
