My self-summary
Here we go again.
I am an open minded person, loving the clichee for its own sake but not actually applying clichees to anyone. I do make an effort to get to know the persons I am in contact with, although I have to admit that I miserably fail with persons that don't interest me. Also, if not kept in check, I tend to amass many social contacts to the point where I have to plan very carefully so nobody gets left behind. People tend to like me, which I attribute to me being easily approachable, low maintenance and pretty relaxed most of the time. I try not to judge (and actually succeed in that, most of the time, sometimes to my disadvantage) and accept people the way they are - although not without suggesting improvements if I feel the person in question could profit from those suggestions.
I love writing and very much enjoy other creative types around. Thinking out of the box is important to me and narrow-minded people easily annoy me or bore me to bits. I've recently switched from teaching to IT, which was fun and challenging. Technology is my second nature.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, during the week, I'm not doing much apart from working (which is fun, actually) and cooking when I come home. But I still enjoy going out on a weekend and finally have the money to do so as well.
I’m really good at
- IT stuff
- People
- Apparently, getting things done is also among the things I'm good at.
The first things people usually notice about me
Wow, that guy sure talks a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Why do 9 out of 10 profiles I visit include "Fight Club" among their favorite movies (conspiracy theory, anyone?)?

(A) Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman (Sandman!), Bill Bryson (Short History of Nearly Everything, Shakespeare), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (everyone needs a bible, right?). Mathieu Ricard, David Goleman, Damasio, Christopher Moore, Richard Dawkins, Barry Schwartz... I enjoy a good mix of science books (language, psychology, philosophy) and thoughtfully entertaining books (fantasy and such).
(B) Loads of films, ususally action comedies and thoughtful films. For relaxation purposes, I prefer movies that are fun to watch. The thoughtful ones I prefer when my brain hasn't been stressed much over the course of the day. Films i tend to dislike are silly romantic films (though there are some good romantic ones), films that are pretentious (including every damn David Lynch film). Series > Movies ;)
(C) I tend to listen to almost every kind of music there is, mostly Dancehall, Metal, Rock, Classic, Musical, Irish Folk (sometimes, yeah), Jazz, Funk, Electronic Music like Neurofunk, Jump Up and Ambient Psy (Shpongle). Favorite band at the moment is [Dunkelbunt]
(D) Love Food..though seafood is not my pois(s)on (French joke). I cook a lot and try to have a balanced (not vegetarian) diet.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, Relatives, Music, Writing, Intimacy (including but not limited to sex), Silence
(Strictly speaking I would have to write: Food, Water, Shelter, Clothing, Purpose and Family, but who would want to read "the basics" of every carbon-based life form?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to win the lottery without buying loads of lottery tickets.
On a typical Friday night I am
Meeting friends to a) go out b) spend quality time c) play games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really get annoyed by people that take religion seriously. My view on religion is that Dawkins is dead-on and religious people delude themselves. I do like my open mind, but if you take religion seriously, well... it does have its limits.
P.S.: This might annoy you, if you're very spiritual or something. Because I'm not.
You should message me if
you'd enjoy a witty conversation
