My self-summary
This last year I injured my foot and have been limping around as best I can. It ended up magnifying my own tendencies towards solitude as I spent time healing at home. Definitely good aspects to being a hermit, I've done a lot of writing, and worked on my illustration abilities. There have been draw backs too and that's lead me here to update my profile and meet new people.

But with that out of the way, as it's the single most prominent part of my life currently, here's a bit about who I am and what I do. I'm a writer, more specifically, a science-fiction writer. I'm also a budding illustrator working primarily in pencil and ink, but recently moving on to more colorful avenues with watercolor. I'm an avid reader of Sci-fi books, comics and graphic novels but I'm also a fan of horror, magical realism, and all manner of detective fiction.

I've got a pair of turntables in my living room for when I need those loud comforting beats by my side. I mix a little when I get the inspiration and I love to hear great music with some serious beats!!
What I’m doing with my life
I work with computers but on my free time, I'm trying to subvert the establishment through my writing, painting, and constantly questioning everyone and everything.

I volunteer from time-to-time at a Buddhist center in town and I try to learn a little bit more each event.
I’m really good at
Pondering the human enterprise and my unique contributions. Critically contemplating global affairs and the troublesome US foreign policy (current and historical).
The first things people usually notice about me
My luxurious, long, brown hair! My pictures are a bit old and my hair has grown out again.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Sci-fi, Horror, Detective Fiction/Noir, Non-Fiction, and a smattering of Sacred Literature.

Shows: Crime dramas are my absolute favorite. The Wire is my most favorite show of all time! Also, I love silly sitcoms like Community, 30 Rock and It's Always Sunny. Of course, I'm also into SciFi TV as well, modern BSG, Star Trek: Next Generation.

Music: I love dirty and grimy beats paired with warm textures/harmonies. Genres include but not limited to, jazz, blues, reggae, dub, funk, hiphop, rap, avant garde beat driven music, soul, orchestral soundtracks. Artists include, J Dilla, Madlib, MF Doom, Apollo Brown, Flying Lotus, Digital Mystikz, Kaiju.

Food: Thai, Japanese and other Asian cuisines, as well as Mexican & Italian but I'm always willing to try a something new.
Six things I could never do without
Family & friends

The three refuges of Buddhism, not in a dogmatic sense, but in an experiential sense, I've felt the enduring peace in the teachers, the teachings and the practitioners of Buddhism.

Beats, got to love the low end bass tones, and them crispy drums and percussion.

Tea, I drink my weight in Arizona green tea on a weekly basis.

My computer(s)
Science-fiction and the continued efforts of Scientists to understand the universe that surrounds us.
(I know that's seven but honestly, I rely on a lot more than this tiny list, and that last one is a doosey)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sounds, especially the low-end frequencies. The nature of existence, limitations of perception as we know it, and our relationship with the rest of the expansive universe.

This history of humans on this planet, and the works of Marx as they relate to the eventual downfall of unbridled capitalism.
On a typical Friday night I am
Looking for a good place to chill and listen to some beats or out playing board games with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cried the first time I saw Forest Gump. I know it's not the greatest movie ever, but it hit me in the right emotional place.

Also, I like some trap music because of that 808!
You should message me if
You want to meet me or my little doggie roommate, Marilyn, the cute but lazy chihuahua that I share my life with. Maybe you'd like to go shopping for records? Or you just want to drink tea/coffee/eat caramels. We can drink and talk and get to know each other. I'm really about making genuine connections with other people these days.

As a disclaimer, I practice ethical non-monogamy. So I have partners currently but that doesn't restrict me from meeting new people. I'm really open to making a new connection with interesting, even not-so-interesting, folks. I'm into the variety of life and meeting new people helps me experience this first hand.
