My self-summary
Literary, creative type for similar. Introverted with a serious streak, but those barriers are prone to breaking the better I get to know you. Midwest raised; east coast educated; west coast confused. I'm at a point where I've started to veer my life out of autopilot and really investigate what I want and how to make myself happy. Overall, it's an exciting time to be me.

I have a penchant for poeticism, find alliteration alluring, and probably spend more time reading than is really healthy. According to the matchmaking scientists on this site, I'm almost certainly "more pure" than the person reading this profile. I don't really know what that means, but I like it.

Phobias (in no particular order): primary colors, airplanes, sand, driving, large social gatherings, animals with mechanical gaits (chickens!) or inexpressive eyes--particularly fish. I spend a lot of time worrying about sharks, even in non-sharky places.
I’m really good at
Daydreaming (an undervalued talent!). Writing, learning, finding obscure but engaging films. Eking inspiration out of the most lowly forms of art. Feigning confusion to disarm my interlocutors. Getting pleasure out of the slightest grammatical faux-pas. Talking all fancy.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty tall, but not in a scary way. Other than that, my grayish style and quiet demeanor. I get a lot of compliments about my hair, despite my inability to keep it under control.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I could type an exhaustive list here, but I doubt anyone would read it. I have a thing for cyborg dramas and weighty foreign flicks. I appreciate understated depth but can typically tolerate the most heavy handed stories as well. For novels, I tend to favor experimental styles and technical innovation over plodding narratives. Woolf, Pynchon, and David Foster Wallace form my literary triumvirate, but I'll read pretty much anything that happens to find its way in front of my face.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My self-prophesied demise aboard an ill-fated airliner. Abandoning my career in order to add to the world's population of starving artists. Whether modern society is information-addicted. What exactly is an imaginary number, and what is or isn't at the outer boundary of the universe. Why the previous two questions bother me so much. How I really should get out of bed now... well, maybe 5 more minutes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Most likely at home reading or watching a movie, but possibly beguiled into a beverage by some brazen friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't enjoy sex at all unless I have an extremely close attachment to the person I'm with. Really.
