My self-summary
Hello world! And especially teh intarwebz, that beautiful double-edged sword of modern living - catalyst for international contact and cross-culture, wealth of information and endless entertainment (if you know where to look), home and bosom to the freakiest perverts ever seen, and voice to a million moronic twats.

Gotta love it, amitrite?

My name's Justin and I work in Reading as a trainee actuary. This means I do lots of sums - tragically, I usually find this pretty enjoyable. The studying... well, not so much. Will be worth it in the end though.

I'm generally very laidback, often too much so. I'm pretty friendly, but it can sometimes take a bit of effort to get me out of my shell. Please don't let this discourage you! I do tend to speak my mind though - this is not always a good thing. I'm also a bit of a geek, but in a good way ;)

I am very into gaming of all sorts. I also love listening to metal/alternative music and chilling out down the pub. Also keen to get out to more gigs.

I love watching quirky music videos like this one.

This profile is, and always will be, a work in progress.

The following has an incomplete, but generally fairly accurate assessment of my musical tastes:

I am supposed to be, studying, and failing, miserably
What I’m doing with my life
I started a new job training to be an actuary at the start of last year (Jan 07). It's going pretty well so far, and I feel like I've started to settle in a little now. Assuming everything goes to plan I'll be qualified in about six years, so there are no plans for major life changes anytime soon. It's a long time to train though, so who knows what I'll wind up doing at the end of it!

Have agreed to run in the Reading half-marathon next March. Not sure what came over me, since I really, really hate running and am incredibly out of shape. Oh wait, I remember - I was drunk. Whoops.
I’m really good at
Excessive and inappropriate use of exclamation marks.

I guess I must be pretty smart - I'm definitely good at maths. Actually, scratch that - I'm great at passing exams, and shit at actually learning. Very useful at uni, less so in the real world.

I'm usually pretty good at games, be they board, card or video - I can tend to be a bit competitive though! I reckon I have good rhythm (I ought to learn the drums). Throwing the horns!
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my sideburns, for like an unkempt bush they are. I'm also quite short for a bloke.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I don't read much anymore, but I used to be a big Terry Pratchett fan. I'd probably go for sci-fi or fantasy books in the first instance.

Movies: A typical bloke, I like thrillers, sci-fi, action, horror and comedy films the most. Oh, and anime. I don't really have many favourites though, although there is always a soft spot for Aliens. Shaun of the Dead is great, and I really liked the Japanese version of Dark Water. The most enjoyable recent film that I saw was probably District 9.

Music: This is a bit more like it. Generally I like indie, metal and alternative, but I dabble in various other genres depending on my mood. I dislike hip-hop/rap/RnB as a rule though. I like going to gigs but don't do it enough. Favourite bands include, but are not limited to, Children of Bodom, The Killers, VAST, SYL, Nine Inch Nails, Opeth, Radiohead, Sikth, Tool, In Flames, Lacuna Coil, Mogwai, Metallica. Hopefully you get the idea - check out my profile if you want a closer look. I would like to think that I give individual songs a chance, regardless of who they are by. In particular, Emergency Trap is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
Current new music:
Alestorm - m'fucking pirate metal! Absolutely loving The Huntmaster. Also finally listening to my Turisas rip, it's actually pretty sweet. Definitely need to be checking out more folk metal.

Foods: Meh. Not really bothered, I'll eat most things! I'm too lazy/inexperienced to really cook properly or decently though. I am also a committed carnivore.

TV: Comedy comedy comedy, all the way. I love slightly surreal stuff like Spaced, Black Books, League of Gentlemen, Peep Show etc, and also the classics like Blackadder, Red Dwarf and so on. South Park is hilarious, Family Guy, Futurama, and such are also quality. I also like some American dramas, like Heroes and House. Currently enjoying Misfits on E4, although it is a bit hormonal.
The six things I could never do without
Alright fine I admit it, I'm not sure what I would do for general entertainment without a PC and net access - there's never anything on telly that's for sure.

Also, cheese.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sometimes I get overly worked up about things I have no control over and/or are essentially irrelevant to me.

For example, for a while as a child I kept myself awake at night worrying about what I would experience while being sucked into a black hole.
On a typical Friday night I am
Down the pub! I do like to go out a get a tad tipsy at least once a week, Friday night being the favourite. You can often find me in The Afterdark as it's just about the only decent club I've found in Reading, or sometimes the Purple Turtle. Alternatively I could be shooting off to visit mates back in good old Brizzle.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a hard on for Guitar Hero and Rock Band, probably the funnest computer games ever made, and music/rhythm games in general.

I'm the biggest procrastinator I know. NEVER ask me to make a decision! Related, I am really fucking awful at just GETTING DOWN AND STUDYING ALREADY. Any tips on concentration techniques would be much appreciated.

Admittedly, statement A does not help my goal for statement B.

None of the above is at all private, but I don't have a whole lot that is.
You should message me if
If nothing you have read has sent you running for the hills. Alternatively if you are horribly, terribly bored. I can't guarantee I won't just bore you more though.

Although I doubt anyone is that bored anyway.

I don't really like IMing, but will occasionally indulge.
