My self-summary
I am a well-rounded soul that grew up in rural Arkansas, and while that doesn't define me, it does explain quite a bit. For example, I prefer natural bodies of water to pools. I have vacationed in remote places of the world, but never in New York City. Lastly, I travel to Arkansas at least once a year...being from there definitely explains that. I like all sorts of things from all sorts of places, and can find my groove in almost any situation. It is one of my goals in life to ensure that the important people in my life know how much they are loved.
What I’m doing with my life
Working toward a balance between things that require both hemispheres of my brain.
I’m really good at
Entertaining a room full of kids with blithe science puns and bio-philosophy. Spiel des Jahres winners. Cooking! Building up my sewing skills, learning how to design and make clothes. Figuring things out.
The first things people usually notice about me
I tend to ask people really intense questions upon first meeting them.

I'm fine with the small talk, but it is the big talk where people's history lives.

TV:
I think Six Feet Under is the best show in the history of television. That being said. I also enjoy Game of Thrones, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords, True Blood...I don't watch much TV

Music: Stan Getz, Outkast, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Swell Season, Bjork, Talking Heads, Big Smith, The Coup, Balkan Beat Box, Ded Prez, Tom Waits, Citizen Cope, Ray Lamontagne, Mos Def, Ani DiFranco, Interpol, Horse Feathers, Noah and the Whale, CCR, Led Zeppelin, Nick Drake, Old Crow Medicine Show, Great Lake Swimmers, Beirut, Gogol Bordello, Goran Bregovic, The Tallest Man on Earth, Possessed by Paul James, Frightened Rabbit, The Head and the Heart, Gotye, Postal Service, etc..

Most shows on KUTX and KOOP, and anything that involves multiple instruments, one blues riff, and moonshine. Musically I am all over the map, and I have a strong penchant for traditional music from all places, but especially Rromani music...it's a long story.

Food: I love all things food, including growing, cooking, and eating it. I like it best when I can do all three for one meal.
The six things I could never do without
Friends and Family
Science
Creativity
Music
A place to focus my mind
Travel
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The nature of the universe and how we came to wake up in it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday night is lady date night, when we get together to catch up or get down. My friends are my family.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I like the way mud feels between my toes. :)
You should message me if
One time whilst traveling in Spain, a friend and I took a bus to Valencia for Fallas. When we got off the bus on the outskirts of town, we realized that entirety of the city center was shut down and roads were blocked off because of the festival...so we jumped in the parade and danced our way to the hostel in the most flamboyance and charisma that two travelers could muster. We twirled little girls in their Fallas dresses, sang with the musicians, clapped and stomped with the flamenco dancers, and then jumped out of the parade when we saw our hostel. If you would have leapt into that parade with me, say hello.
