My self-summary

To steal a lyric from Myka9, I believe that we are all infinite beings with enormous capacity.

I'd like to think of myself as kind and self aware, and I place supreme value on compassion. These are three qualities that I value highly, if not supremely. I really enjoy connecting with people on intimate/raw levels. Honestly, I also maintain a level of detachment within this intimacy if I don't feel a depth of reciprocation.

I've spent a lot of time "exploring space" only to come to the conclusion that in our experience as human beings, space needs a mate....time. So, ultimately, I'd like to enjoy pursuing hobbies/interests that include but are not limited to hiking, art of all forms (Except musicals. I just can't get into musicals-although i suppose I'm willing to try), nature, martial arts, etc, all while spending time with people who I care about, and usually they care about me as well, to the best of their ability.

I place a lot of value on sharing meals and experiences with good people. So fundamental.

I've just started practicing zazen, and re-engaging a yoga practice, so I can master the force like Yoda, but with some edge like Han Solo.
What I’m doing with my life
Perfecting that which is in perpetual transition.

For money: Caregiving / Working in a Genetic Testing Company

For fun: hiking, biking, physical exertion of all kinds, getting to know people, reading, music, eating/cooking etc., and the occasional hardy party

Ultimately, I'd really like to end up with enough money to eat well, and enough time to spend with good people. All while making some meaningful contribution to life.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at creating space for people.

The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know. You'd have to ask them, but I'd guess my relatively non judgmental openness.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Generally the art/media I like are things that can enlighten the mind, open the heart and have other positive impacts on people. The power of media/art is amazing. I try not to swim in the mainstream though; generally the current is strong, but the depth is shallow. I swear I'm not a hipster, whatever that is. So if any/a lot of these lists resonate with you, say hi. At the least, we may become friends who can go to shows/movies/exhibits/etc.

Books: The Dhammapada, Four Agreements, Tao Te Ching, The Archaic Revival, Houston Smith's The World's Religions, The End of your World, Capitalism Hits the Fan, Breaking Open the Head, Autobiography of Malcolm X, etc., etc.

Currently reading Zen Mind, Beginners mind.

Movies: The Fifth Element (if you understand what the Fifth Element actually is, I will love you forever. It's not that hard), Paul (also, if Paul could be your guru, I'd love you forever), The Big Lebowski, Lord of the Rings, The Green Mile, The Last Samurai, Star Wars, Ip Man, etc., etc.

I like all genres except horror. I can't possible see how it's enjoyable to artificially create a state of anxiety :p

Shows: The Boondocks, Futurama,Star Trek (TNG, DS9), The Office, Big Bang Theory, Bill Moyers and Co., Nature, Charlie Rose, Tavis Smiley, more NPR/PBS stuff.

Radio: Pacifica > NPR > Everything else.

Music: Reggae (Groundation, Damian Marley, Ooklah the Moc, Luciano, SOJA, Lionheart Sounds, etc.) Underground Hip Hop (The Grouch, Hieroglyphics, Eligh, Binary Star, Zion I, Brother Ali, Myka9, Binary Star, etc) Old School (Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Al Green, etc.)

Really, I've come across music in all genres that I've liked. Music is seriously amazing, and much of the music I've listened to has immensely influenced the person I am. Dude, it can have huge impacts on all aspects of being. Pretty cool.

Food: I'm game for pretty much anything besides balut. Try to go organic/local as much as possible, and not eat too much meat. God, the paradox of bacon kills me. So delish, but pigs are so freaking cute.
The six things I could never do without
The Fast and Furious Movies
Dorito Flavored Taco Shells

But really...
Meaningful relationships
Oreos...I kinda have a problem with them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Relationships. Essence lays in relationships. This is a big one for me right now, and I'd imagine for the rest of my life. Constantly try to examine and understand my relationship to myself, others, food, work, community, hobbies/interests, etc etc etc. Aka everything. Trying to foster healthy relationships in all aspects of life.
Life. The meaning(s) of life.
Systemic road blocks to the actualization of human potential.
Humanity, and human potential.
Transpersonal psychology. The acceptance, understanding and realization of deeper consciousness.
Current affairs.
On a typical Friday night I am
Whatever. Honestly, I'm just as content going out or staying in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, I wont tell you the most private thing, but a bunch of not so private little things.

While I'm happy for Ellen Page, I'm secretly crushed she wont swing my way.

I prefer smooth over chunky peanut butter.

I sometimes fantasize about being better organized.

I'm pretty shy.

I'm not fancy.
You should message me if
You consider kindness and empathy supreme qualities. I've met a couple amazing people from OKCupid, and cherish the relationships I've developed. This apparently is not the norm, which adds an extra layer of awesome. So, if you're inclined, just do it!
