My self-summary
For my geeky gay boys: on my good days I'm a Level 5 Paladin; on a regular day I'm a Rogue or a Woodland Elf; on my worst days I am Dark Willow, all scary and veiny and the only thing that can stop me from destroying the world is the reminder of my true yellow crayon breaky self.

For the philosophical types: I'm more of a relativist than an absolutist, though I think a good metric for ethical behavior is the presence or absence of harm to another. On my good days, I tend to be utilitarian in my outlook. I am constantly filled with a healthy amount of Cartesian doubt.

My sporty gay boys: I don't follow sports (though I've become an accidental Packers fan), but I'll outrun, out-bike, or out-wrestle you any day. I will play you at shooty hoops, and I will lose. I will still play you. Throw me a pig skin, however, and I'll put it in the oven and make chicharrón.

For my political gays: I campaigned and voted for Obama twice. I phone banked for gay marriage. I'm not afraid to discuss Israel and Palestine. I believe we live in a fundamentally racist, homophobic, economically unjust patriarchy. These attitudes are ingrained in our institutions and it is our job to dismantle them in a never-ending effort to uphold human dignity. While both Obama and gay marriage are more conservative than I like, I believe in a gradual approach to the aforementioned dismantling and see both as huge steps on a longer journey.

For my masc4masc guys: über-masc does not equal übermensch. I'm looking for well rounded types who aren't afraid of women or being seen as feminine. If you consider yourself masculine, I hope you have a diverse opinion of what that means. Embrace the rainbow, gurls.

For my adventurous boys: I have a sleeping bag, a tent, and a hammock. Let's roll.

For my BDSM/RACK/Whips and Chains types: I'm down.

For my vanilla types: I'm down.

For my early-adopting OKCupid boys who remember where this comes from: I am romantic, sexual, and tempestuous
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a writer. I currently have a fellowship at the Public Theater and I was recently commissioned to write the book for a musical about the drag ball scene of the 1980s. I also recently received a grant for a biopic I wrote on Alan Turing. I also act part time, and to answer your next question, I'm not in retail or food service. I do work part time as a legal assistant, however, in the Conde Nast building in Times Square. Great views... :)
I’m really good at
Riding bikes, arm wrestling, scrambled eggs, back rubs, bedtime stories and other bedroom antics.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyebrows; they're... "expressive."
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Literature: The God of Small Things, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Cien años de soledad, La casa de Bernarda Alba and anything else by Lorca, The Potter Series, Beloved, Bent.

Movies/Television: BSG (What Would Laura Roslin Do?), STNG, STDS9, South Park, Requiem for a Dream, Pan's Labyrinth, Labyrinth, Amélie, Love Actually, The Princess Bride, The Dark Crystal.

Music: 80s power ballads, 90s grunge/alternative, classical music, Carmen, most operas by Puccini, Verdi and occasionally Wagner (I know), most Russian composers, musical theatre in the Sondheim/Jason Robert Brown vein, Rent (the original Broadway, not the movie).

Food: love me some dirty dirty Chinese food, but I'm open to almost anything. I've recently started roasting whole chickens and discovered I make 'em quite tasty.
The six things I could never do without
-good friends
-the written word
-physical affection, including sex
-intellectual stimulation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How people choose to spend their lives, how much choice is involved, and how much the machinations of fate come into play. I think about social justice a lot, and race and racism, and homophobia, and hypocrisy, and bleeding heart liberals and neoconservatives. I spend a lot of time wondering why.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I had my druthers there'd be no such thing as a typical Friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I take all of the quizzes. All of them. I know which 80s song I am, which LOTR character, why I'm single, who I would be in the world of gay porn, who my perfect match is, and which fantasy city I should live in if I were a twice removed descendent of the Calaquendi. Yet you shall never know, because my profound mortification at being so drawn to this worthless click bait prevents me from sharing my results. I shall forever house these inane reflections of my inner psyche in the secret corridors of my shame, and you shall never know that I live my life to the joyous strains of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," or that the fantasy world in which I should live has yet to be imagined.
You should message me if
-you'll help me figure out the recipe for a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster
-even though you love the song "Mexican Wrestler," you kinda wish Jill Sobule had sung "sometimes I wish that I were a wrestler," not "I was a wrestler"
-you don't believe the Kobayashi Maru is unwinnable
-you are a solid, stable person with an adventurous streak, committed to doing good in the world, and you get along well with aggressively passionate people
-you can challenge me and want to be challenged in return
-you wish OkCupid recognized simple html for unordered lists
-you'll climb trees with me
