My self-summary
After returning to the US and some nomad-ing, I've finally settled in Phoenix.

I've spent the last decades living between Tokyo, east coast cities of differing character... with some Yangon thrown in for good measure.

Soooo.. new to Phoenix. new (or well it's been a reeeaaallly long time ) since I've been in a place where I've needed a car.

Work brings us interesting places? I think there are interesting things here. Maybe you have some suggestions?

Ok. So my profile used to say:

I love to laugh, explore, and learn new things. I love to enjoy and experience the little things. I love to be in/experience new cultures. And I am a big news-junkie.

(Ok. It kind of still does :)

But, heck, don't a lot of female profiles say something like that? (Maybe except for the news junkie part.)

This pretty much sums me up entirely:

Oh and general note: I've learned that the match percentage really doesn't mean very much. Seriously. Though it might also have something to do with the fact that I guess... I haven't answered that many questions?
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a journalist. I write things for radio. It means someone pays me to ask a lot of questions and then talk. I can assure you my brothers never thought there'd be a job for that :P

And often music stuff, too.
I’m really good at
being silly/not taking things too seriously. laughing. sleeping. talking and listening. being creative. asking questions.

finding/discovering new places.

being clumsy. spacing out. flying.

except flying. I haven't quite gotten the knack of that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm told: that I'm friendly. and smile a lot.

(Note: A friend saw this and told me I needed to change it to just say I'm friendly and smile a lot' because... duh. (well. his duh. But.. um. doesn't that feel too I don't know.. self-aggrandizing?)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Winnie the Pooh, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Bridge to Terabithia. It's Kind of A Funny Story. A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide

Movies: Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Wayne's World, Stranger than Fiction, Good Will Hunting

Music: I'm a former music school kid. classic rock, good pop, electronic, jazz, musicals, those 90s rock bands, a fusion of all the above? etc. If it's good music I love it all.

Food: good food. but specifically Thai, Japanese (not the typical American restaurant kind. but, uh... creative izakaya style:) love it), Moroccan, etc. I seriously love good food. but sadly, after a backpacking experience saddled me with a tropical parasite, I am now 'food... stunted' for lack of a better word.. Don't worry. The parasite is totally gone. getting food is a wee bit harder now, but it does force you to be creative.
The six things I could never do without
intelligent conversation
good/fun exercise
the news
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The world around me. What's going on in Karachi affects what's going on in Georgia affects what's going in Fiji, you know:)

How things work.

my hair. I like cutting it off.

staring at the sky. it's beautiful
On a typical Friday night I am
I like to go out and dance, I like to sit at home and play scrabble. have a potluck party with friends. finger paint (seriously). have deep conversations - yknow the kind that move from political theory to cartoons at the drop of a hat. etc.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
um. gee. I'll admit most of anything.... er. but not really to a website. I used to do a lot of theatre. theatre people are weird. and tend to be less inhibited. Maybe we can just leave it at that? ^^
You should message me if
you are kind of sarcastic/geeky/like learning/tasting/trying new things. And Endlessly curious. Intelligence is the biggest turn on.

Do you wonder (worry) why more computer scientists don't learn about how ethics and coding go hand-in-hand, do mesh networks set your heart a-flutter, how about... Thai politics, how people play, Burmese hip hop? Lots of interesting stuff out there. What turns you on?
