My self-summary
Human. I'm pretty sure, anyway.

I grew up in an amazing smallish city in MN then spent four years in Washington, DC. After school, I moved to Minneapolis to work at a big company, which I quickly left to start a business.

I like to turn off the lights in rooms and feel my way around.

If there's a ball on the ground, I'm probably going to pick it up and throw it. ...Then retrieve it. Then throw it, again...

I walk fast. Too fast?

I love thoughtful, deep, deliberate, debates. Life is complex. And that's okay! Let's talk it out and not get too worked up about it. We're all just trying to be happy.

I try not to take things too seriously and am willing to experience almost anything at least once.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working to grow a business and trying to stay sane as I do it. I attempt the latter through exercise, keeping up with current events, reading, video games, and relying on my friends and family for confidence and comfort when they can be hard to find. I write when inspiration finds me or when I look for it hard enough.
I’m really good at
Not letting groceries go bad.
Juggling objects at inopportune times.
Adhering to the Rule of Three.
The first things people usually notice about me
If I'm with my brother, that I look an awful lot like him.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I love bouncing between fiction and non-fiction, but the ones that blur the line between the two are my favorites.

Some favorite titles: Mayflower, Amazing Grace, Freakonomics, The Man Nobody Knows, The Killer Angels, Atlas Shrugged, The Devil in the White City, Liar's Poker, Slaughterhouse-Five, John Adams, A Song of Fire and Ice, Hillbilly Elegy...

Movies: Oscar Season should be counted amongst Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall as a recognized period of time.

Some favorites: Citizen Kane, Glory, Black Swan, WALL-E, Nebraska, Zero Dark Thirty, Hero, The Social Network, Good Will Hunting, Ghostbusters, A Night at the Opera, Nebraska, Ex Machina, the LOTR series...

TV: Aaron Sorkin has me eating out of his hand.

Can't miss: Game of Thrones, Dexter, The West Wing, Star Trek, The Office, Entourage, South Park, Red Dwarf, Whose Line, True Detective, RuPaul's Drag Race, Veep, Firefly, The Wire, anything Ken Burns has done.

Music: No shame Top 40 fan. I can get into pretty much anything. It's more fun that way.

Will always jam to: Fair to Midland, Dave Matthews Band, Kygo, Anberlin, First Aid Kit, Jimmy Eat Word, Santigold, Starcadian, The Decemberists, film scores...

Food: I'll eat anything. Even that statement.
Six things I could never do without
Carl Sagan's Hair
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My ambitions and how I might meet them.
The future.
How slight differences in tone, diction, or phrasing can drastically alter the meaning of one's speech and, relatedly, how much texting sucks as a communication medium.
On a typical Friday night I am
With friends in some setting or another. With them, all time is well-spent.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Don't have too many of these. Just ask and I'll probably spill the beans.
You should message me if
You want to explore some place you've never been before!

You're ambitious – but don't get too worked up about it!

You'd be willing to meet up sooner>later. I think Interacting with someone via the lens of a profile and the filter of a keyboard is kinda like trying to explain surfing to someone who has never done it. Sure, you can describe the shape of the board, talk about the smell of the ocean, and explain the physics of sliding down crashing waves, but you'll never really "know" surfing until you just get out there and do it.
