My self-summary
Its been a while, perhaps I should edit this. Lets see...

I think owls are amazing ^v^

I think we place arbitrary restrictions on our behaviour that stop us from experiencing the life we could.

I get along with many different types of people in many wildly different circumstances.

I like the British spelling of behaviour better than the US version.

I think rules are a useful guideline to be discarded from time to time (though, this is just a restatement of the above).

Despite many of the things I like to do being indoorsey, I like to do outdoorsey things also. Especially Kayaking!

I like finding truth and beauty in everything.

I want to find a matching second derivative.

I hate spin.

Should I filter, or attract.

I think the I is implied in all these and I should edit to reflect that.
What I’m doing with my life
Figuring it out. Taking it apart. Putting it back together.
I’m really good at
Computers. Figuring things out. Writing short sentences.
The first things people usually notice about me
Im full of energy. Im short. A friend says Im intense, but I feel free spirited (maybe those arent orthogonal?).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like many things, but whats more interesting is finding more things to like. I thought foreign movies were worthless, then saw City of Lost Children and Amelie (District 9 was a gimme cause I like Sci-Fi in general). I try to watch or listen or read things that isnt within my normal sphere or that I havent liked in the past, just to see whats out there. I've made it through 47 seconds of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (my previous record was 39 seconds).

So, lets go find new things to like!

For some more mundane lists, I read a lot of sci-fi, tending more towards the science than the fantasy. Iain M Banks :: Asimov :: Heinlein :: George RR Martin :: Nil

I think WALL·E is a phenominal. The first 45 minutes are sublime. (WALL*E|WALL-E). I'm on watch 7 right now.

I love games, board, computer. I play a bit of Eve Online. I like RPGs (though who has time really). Settlers of Cataan is awesome. Ill put Wow here, but just cause of searches. I find its fun to play with friends so if you're interested in just the occasional play, or playing 20 hours on a weekend, Ide be game.

Shows depend on what Im doing. Mad Men is awesome cause the writing and acting is sublime. Warehouse 13 and Bones are fun cause they represent nerds well. Dr Who is awesome. I was turned off by the effects, but its really solid high-concept sci-fi when you get into it, then they get money and the effects catch up.

Community is an amazing show. Arrested development as well.

ohoh! I love British panel shows, QI :: Never Mind the Buzzcocks :: Mock the Week :: Nil.

Musically, I have found things I like in every genre. I drift towards synthpop, rock or classical generally when I want to actually listen to something. If Im working I listen to something poppy to block outside sounds and distract my part of my brain while the rest gets work done.

Ive fallen in love with Florence + The Machine :: Bach :: Alphaville :: Vivaldi :: Lady Gaga :: Muse :: Lykke Li :: Poe :: U2 :: Tori Amos :: Delerium :: new order :: The Faint :: Britney Spears(I know, I know, but so catchy) :: Enigma :: NIN :: OMD :: Oingo Boingo :: Rammstein :: My Chemical Romance :: Hooverphonic :: Jem :: Information Society :: Garbage :: Erasure :: Depeche Mode :: Gorillaz :: Yazoo :: The Police(but not Sting) :: Crystal Method :: Portishead :: REM :: MIA :: Jesus Jones :: Rise Against(just started liking them, awesomepants!) :: Foo Fighters :: Pendulum :: My Chemical Romance :: Metric :: Queen :: Clint Mansell(in particular, Lux Aeterna / it makes anything you're doing epic) :: Jefferson Airplane(Grace Slick is aa-may-zing) :: some Radiohead | Street Spirit may be the greatest song on earth :: Just started seeing the genius in Foo Fighters and The Beatles :: Lily Allen :: Nil
The six things I could never do without
The obvious, but thats no fun.

000. Computers
001. Music
010. Books
011. Friends
100. Distractions
101. Attractions

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Thinking. Everything. Nothing.
On a typical Friday night I am
.: Programming. Sometimes work | sometimes play | always
interesting.
.: Inventing false memories so I can later have awesome false
nostalgia. Like the summer I spent on Venice Beach with
Jesus and Genghis Khan.
.: Sometimes filling out empty essays.
.: Wasting time.
.: Being with friends, either virtually, or really.
.: I used to play Rock Band a lot, but I'm in an apartment now.
:(
.: Normalizing OKCupid links so profiles show up the same in my
bookmarks.
.: Coming up with a theory of mind that makes sense.
.: Disentangling entanglements.
.: Wondering about wondering.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
.: I havent taken Myers-Briggs because I dont want the results to be a self fulfilling prophecy about who I is.
You should message me if
.: You're awesome! Or not! Either way lets talk.

.: If you want to go to Europe, but dont have time or money, so we build a tiny scale model out of books and various household stuff and go from tiny cafe to tiny cafe sampling the food.

DONT message me if ::
.: You feel badgers should never be president
