My self-summary
I'm a writer who is too self-critical to get anywhere with her stories; a nerd who falls into rapid and deep obsession with her fandoms; a role-player who prefers Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 to 4e (by only a small margin); a bookworm with a passion for fantasy and the classics; a perpetual student who loves learning new things, from languages to weird trivia; an overly-sarcastic cynic who is somehow, surprisingly, rather optimistic. I'm kind of (a lot) naïve about a lot of things.

I don't know what I'm looking for here, really. I haven't had much interest in romance at any point in my life (only relationship was with a girl, about 9 years ago). This is something new for me. An experiment! Thanks for taking the time to look. As you could probably guess from the length of each section of my profile, I tend to care a lot about fictional worlds and works, maybe more than I care about the real world.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now, I'm working for a tiny firm as the office goddess. It's a good intermediary position. I'm living with my parents, because my house is ten minutes from work (with rush hour traffic). This doesn't really bother me, because I like having the opportunity to bank savings and spend money on my hobbies. I'm also writing, but not as much or as well as I would like. The stories aren't coming like they used to.
I’m really good at
I'd like to say creative endeavors like writing, but that's such a subjective thing. I'm clearly NOT good at writing my own profile, I mean, look at all the text walls I've vomited up here.

I'm a good listener, and my advice is usually sound. If one of my friends is distressed, I'd like to do something to fix it.

Baking! I've recently started doing more of it, and the results have ranged from decent to delicious!
The first things people usually notice about me
That they don't notice me. In social situations in real life, I shrink into the background, partly by my own choosing. I can be a little awkward with conversations. Small talk is complicated!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have broad (read: indiscriminate) tastes. Most of what I watch is anime, but I've been watching a lot of random TV shows lately.

Favorite books, in no particular order:
-The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner
-Lost Souls, by Poppy Z. Brite
-The Still, by David Feintuch
-Watership Down, by Richard Adams
-Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, by J.K. Rowling (I adore the whole series, but a large part of that is the impact it had on my life rather than the actual books themselves.)
-Twelfth Night, by William Shakespeare
-more to come...

Favorite movie. The only movie I can say is my absolute favorite:
-Moulin Rouge

Favorite shows, ordered as they came to mind:
-The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (even season 2. Yes, even Endless Eight)
-Supernatural (until season 5)
-My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
-Princess Tutu
-Code Geass

Favorite video games:
-The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (but I love Ocarina, Majora's Mask, and Skyward Sword, and enjoyed Twilight Princess)
-Final Fantasy VII
-Kingdom Hearts
(I only play games that are popular; I only play the games the magazines tell me to buy!)

Favorite music:
-Whatever. Nearly anything. Play it for me enough times and I'll probably start to like it, except for certain really irritating songs. I like pop music, country, sad teenage boys with electric guitars, showtunes, whatever.

Favorite webcomics:
-Gunnerkrigg Court
Six things I could never do without
Food, water, oxygen, shelter, light, and sleep.

Okay, turning off the snark (maybe [no promises]). What does “6 things I could never do without” even mean, anyway? I would say, “Internet,” but I have survived without that. Books? It would be rough, but there are other outlets for creative stimulation. I love my friends and my family, but saying “friends” here would be SO CHEESY.

This prompt is silly.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Story ideas. Really. Probably always on my mind, in one form or another, whether it's, “Oh my god, I wonder what the next update of [comic I'm following] will look like,” or “What would happen in [book series I'm reading] if [strange occurance!] occurred?” or, “Should [characters in story I'm writing] go to that place, or the other place?” I've started crying in random places (like work) because I'll be thinking about how horrible it is, that he died before he could reconcile with his sister, and she said such cruel things to him, and it was JUST SO SAD, never mind that they are fictional characters.

I do think about serious things too. Really. I keep up with world events and national news, and I do contemplate the things that are going on. I just don't like dwelling on it too much, because it's depressing and I'm powerless to fix things.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually I'm staying in. I'll be reading a book, or playing a video game, or reading the internet forums of fringe groups and laughing at the morons.

I do leave the house, too! I'll hang out with my friends, frequently doing tabletop roleplaying or Magic: The Gathering. Movie marathons with a lot of people are great, too, especially if you pick a theme.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Oh wow, there's a lot of text on this page. I will try to make this short. Um, I'm not as confident as I've made myself out to be here. There has been plenty of time to edit everything here to be as eloquent, exciting, and personality-infused as possible. This has been a profile full of TL;DR.
You should message me if
Message me if you want to just chat about whatever, or if my dazzling wit (HA) and personality (Ha.Ha.Ha) have charmed you. Like I said further up, I'm not very good at small talk. I can't make any promises on how far things will go.
