My self-summary
I have been in California all my life...Southern California concrete suburban jungle born and raised. Then it was up to the Sacramento foothills, South Lake Tahoe and Humboldt State. I have taken a little bit from everywhere I have lived, from the people who influenced me and from the things I have experienced. I fit in no where, yet kinda everywhere at the same time. I am equally part surfer, punk, beat junkie, nature boy, hippy, nerd, freak. I have a wife who knows about this; so it is no secret. As we've evolved, we have come to understand we both have interests that lie outside of our relationship and can not always be everything for each other. Plus there is so much potential to connect with really cool people...and so we are here.
What I’m doing with my life
I have been living in the Nevada County area for about five years now. I love it here. Everything from the beautiful nature and people, to the awesome music and art scene. The only thing that's missing here is some waves and that may be the reason I leave too.

I am big on reading, going to see music, dancing, hiking, swimming, camping, festivals and surfing or snowboarding when I get the chance.

As far as work goes...I used to do the 9-5 grind for close to a decade as an environmental consultant, until about a year ago. Nowadays I have my own little online retail business selling books, comics and stuff. I do miss the adventures of working outdoors and the challenges that my old environmental job offered, but I work a lot less, have a ton more freedom and am my own boss these days which is priceless.
I’m really good at
Hiking, dancing, writing, boarding, working hard, playing harder...and taking care of my awesome little family.
The first things people usually notice about me
Possibly my eyes or curly locks. I have also recently been informed that I have a somewhat intimidating look in general...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Oh man...I'll watch read/watch/listen to anything good, anything that makes me feel, moves me or educates me in someway. But I do especially like the following:

Palahniuk, Chomsky, Zinn, Kerouac, Thompson, Burroughs, Alan Moore, Comic Books, Sci Fi, Fantasy, LOTS of Comics

I love many to list, but some of my favorite directors are David Lynch, Joel and Ethan Coen, Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze, Hayao Miyazaki, Michel Gondry. I love a good documentary too, and then there is the guilty pleasures of Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, or some well written horror flick or comic book movie on occasion.

I refuse to watch network TV, mainstream news and commercials, but lately my wife and I have been known to get into shows on Netflix like Californication, Walking Dead, Dr. Who (yes I am a dork).

This section is stupid...I am a music freak. Very hard even for me to pin down as I have a diverse and somewhat eclectic taste at times. I grew up mostly more straight forward stuff like Led Zeppelin, punk, hardcore, metal, rock, reggae and the Grateful Dead Dead. Now a days, depending on the mood I listen to pretty much anything that is different, artistic, underground, danceable, experimental, cool and/or old. Sometimes its happy, sometimes sad, sometimes light and sometimes its dark. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow and a lot of the times it is weird. Standout favs at the moment....King Dude, Black Heart Procession, The Growlers, Chelsea Wolfe, Ennio Morricone, Dark Dark Dark, Warpaint, Iron and Wine, Bon Iver, Elliot Smith, Liberation Movement, Welder & ESKMO, Nicoals Jaar, Manu Chao, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Calexico, Velvet Underground, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Joy Division, Danzig, Misfits, Fugazi, Frodus, The Faint, Milemarker, Pixies, Les Savy Fav, Radiohead, Jay Munly, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Nick Cave, Dead Can Dance, NIN, NWW, Swans, Lustre, Bell Witch, Witchcraft, Ministry, Aphex Twin, The Knife, MF DOOM, Handsome Boy, Buck 65, Atmosphere, Sage Francis, Madlib & Quasimoto, J Dilla and I could really go on, but I will spare you...

I worked as a chef before and after college and now I live in a town that has some great local agriculture which I try and enjoy often; so eating good has always been important to me. I used to be vegetarian after high school and was vegan when I was going to HSU. For health and personal reasons, I started eating meat again a few years ago. Now I can get into eating anything fresh local, organic and sustainably raised/grown.
Six things I could never do without
Water, sex, music, dancing, art, nature, healthy sustainable food, my daughter, my son and my wife...that is nine I suppose, but there is no way I could deal without any of these.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Being a better communicator, sex, water (it is life and caring for it was my job for close to a decade), music, art, life, nature, sex (yes I already said that) the world and the universe...and how it all started.
On a typical Friday night I am
Dancing if at all possible to some kick ass music that comes through this town so frequently...if not then watching a good movie, trying to get into a good book or getting into some other kind of trouble.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can be a little shy initially, but I'm not all that private once I get to know someone. I'll probably tell you most anything you want to know once I get to know you (and I like you that is).
You should message me if
You are different, unique, intelligent, open minded and want to talk, meet-up, go on a hike, dance, have fun...
