My self-summary
I'm pretty much a normal(-ish) person. I'm not too crazy. I'm usually pretty serious; I work hard and play hard. I like to have fun, too.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a teacher. I teach high school English.
I teach SAT classes sometimes, too.
I used to run 3-6 days a week, but then I got depressed and stopped working out. I've started going back to the gym and have lost 25 pounds.
I'm working on coding a game using RPG Maker VX Ace, and revising a novel I wrote some time ago, and researching/planning for the next novel I plan to write.
I'm part of a board game group and a couple role playing groups. I also do slam poetry. These take up most of my weeknights.
I’m really good at
I'm good at bringing out the best in people, at seeing the positive in most situations, at solving problems and getting organized, and at writing long but grammatically correct sentences. I'm good at board games and video games, too. Woot!
I am not so good at it, but I really enjoy rock climbing and would love to find a regular partner.
The first things people usually notice about me
Eyes... I have pretty blue eyes. And a great smile. I smile often and easily. Not to mention my sweet personality.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
a) I love reading. That's why I'm an English teacher. I mostly enjoy contemporary literature, but I like a wide variety of books. I have a few all time favorites, including (but not limited to) The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart, Anansi Boys and Stardust by Neil Gaiman, The Town That Forgot How to Breathe by Kenneth J. Harvey, Q&A by Vikas Swarup, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, The Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and the series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. And anything by Dan Brown (although I was disappointed by Inferno). Currently reading: Psych 101 by Paul Kleinman, The Maze Runner by James Dashner.

b) In general, I enjoy a wide variety of genres--comedy, horror, musical, martial arts, and suspense. Some all-time favorites are Slumdog Millionaire and the Saw series. Most recent movie I saw in theaters: Pitch Perfect 2 (don't judge me).

c) I like a variety of music, and I love concerts! My current favorite is Dashboard Confessional. Most recent concert: Vans Warped Tour 2016.

d) I like most foods except seafood. I love spicy foods, especially Indian and Thai. And sweets. Since I'm trying to lose all the pounds, I've cut back a lot.

e) TV: Recently cut my cable. Am still obsessed with American Horror Story and The Walking Dead. Also enjoy watching anime. Currently watching: Shannara, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

f) Video Games: Any RPGs. I grew up on Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior games. I love games like Skyrim and Dragon Age. Currently playing: Fallout 4, Dragon Quest 6, Final Fantasy 7.

g) Board Games: One of the highlights of my week is going to a local tabletop and RPG group. Some of my favorite games include Dominant Species, Battlestar Gallactica, and Dead of Winter.
The six things I could never do without
1. chocolate
2. fiber
3. video games
4. beer
5. poetry
6. you...?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
whatever is on my mind at the moment. I think a lot. About pretty much everything. I tend to overanalyze.
On a typical Friday night I am
at a poetry slam, a high school football game, a friend's place, or at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't think I'm capable of love.

Oh, and my name. I'm Jesse.
You should message me if
you are an intelligent and interesting person who would like to talk to a like-minded individual.
