My self-summary
Hi! I am a reformed rocket scientist looking for smart, earnest people I can joke around with.

I look intense most of the time. It's the eyebrows.
What I’m doing with my life
Lately I'm working in sales as an anthropology project. Its rewards and difficulties have both been surprising.

I also co-host Appetite Obscure, an experimental dining potluck. A prototypical dish:
Windy Sea Storm
1. Stand in two buckets of water, one warm and one cold
2. Put on goggles
3. Eat whitefish with mangos while a powerful fan blows arugula into your face
I’m really good at
Mirroring movement. Vicarious enjoyment. Eating the whole burrito.

Every few months I dive into a new pursuit really hard. I really like the steep part of a learning curve. Current obsessions are intersecting art and business culture and designing playground games.

I will notice and appreciate how your hands move and your mouth quirks.
The first things people usually notice about me
Someone once described my voice as a cross between Carl Sagan and They Might Be Giants.

I present as "culturally normal." I like the transparency.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Everything in n+1 and Paper Monument. My writing role models are Borges, Kafka, Italo Calvino, and Ian MacEwan. I love short stories, especially Chekhov and George Saunders--the sadder the better. I also like Neal Stephenson and pulpier sci-fi a la Alfred Bester.

Graphic novels: Blankets, Habibi, Bone, Zot!, and all things Chris Ware.

Movies: Her, Stranger Than Fiction, The Science of Sleep

Music: Indie longhair sad bands that tell elaborate stories (Okkerville River, Arcade Fire, Mountain Goats). Extremely into San Fermin. Also into bassy electronic a la Purity Ring or Grimes.

Visually I dig on clean lines, high contrast monochrome, and calligraphy, especially Arabic and Chinese calligraphy. Rothko and Motherwell. I love the tension between symbol, shape, and representation.

I eat all the stuff
Six things I could never do without
Nah
I spend a lot of time thinking about
In any given conversation, a piece of my brain is always looking for the next available pun. Bonus points if I can slip it into conversation without anybody noticing.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes, I dance. I'm an okay popper but my boogaloo is a one-trick pony.

Most Friday nights are pretty quiet though. I'm pretty happy just sitting and having interesting conversations.

I also help design and produce interactive art events. I usually have more fun facilitating parties than attending them.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm susceptible to peer pressure. I try to use this to my advantage through careful peer curation.
You should message me if
You're poly-compatible.

You're good with words, both the serious and the joking kind.

You're curious.
