Well, not entirely, but I can certainly relate. Do you know who said it?
Traveler whenever and wherever possible.
I'm a relatively normal guy; a bit dry or sarcastic sometimes, genuine, and overall a good person. I'm caring and tend to be outgoing, and I'm a proponent of being honest and up front.
My real passion is spending time with interesting people and doing cool/new things - conveniently my friends fit this bill! I also tend to strike up random conversations with even more random people - it's an interesting world out there.
In no particular order: I love spending time outside (beaches, patios, hiking, grilling by the pool), bowling, drinking good beer, shooting pool, dancing, cooking, singing karaoke at the top of my lungs, etc. I love learning, laughing, exploring, being clever.
I have an awesome job with a cool tech company that I totally love, and have been in Austin a few years now. I'm also excited about philanthropy, and work with local non profits when possible.
In an unusually strong burst of motivation, I'm embracing the "new year, new me" attitude and trying a bunch of new things and seeing what sticks. So far, I've been hitting the gym somewhat regularly, getting outside to play more, reading more in spurts, and traveling more. Always open to new experiences :)
As much as I love vodka and whiskey, these days I'd rather get together for a coffee or visit some place new.
Bowling, drinking beer, listening, cooking...
Puns. I like to be punny.
I can be a little shy at first (though those that know me might not believe this), but once I'm past that people usually like me and tell me I'm fun.
I like all types of music, and am usually listening to whichever radio station comes in best. Some of my favorites are/have been Secondhand Serenade, Buck Cherry, Sublime, James Taylor, They Might Be Giants, Katy Perry, GNR, All American Rejects, Panic! at the Disco, Beastie Boys, 311, Tim McGraw, Tori Amos, Ani Difranco, NIN, Norah Jones, Jim Croce, Jack Johnson, Radiohead, Cake, Prince, Bob Dylan... You get the idea :)
I'm not much of a regular TV person; I don't dislike the TV, but I'm not good at consistently watching. Due to that, I've dumped cable and am satisfied with the occasional Netflix binge. I get into things like Chopped, Game of Thrones, Californication, Dexter, The West Wing... I once lost half a day when I first discovered Rock of Love - largely due to being hung over and having great company. I thought it was simultaneously the best and worst thing I'd ever seen, though I don't have the patience for it any longer (unless someone is willing to yank that bandanna-wig off of Brett). I'll also occasionally watch a Red Sox game, or popular sporting event, but I would really rather be there or actually be playing.
No, I will not watch Jersey Shore with you.
I started this claiming that I hadn't read an actual *good* book in a while, but enjoy the mindless suspense/thrillers ala James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, etc. Lately, I've been talking about making a big list of "must-reads" and going through all the one's I've missed and I'm kind of starting that - Lolita The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird... Books I loved that will probably end up on my all-time top ten. Some of my all-time favorite writers are Ayn Rand, Richard Bach, Douglas Adams, Stephen King, Herman Hesse, and Chuck Klosterman (Sex, Drugs, and Coco Puffs!).
And Food! I'm open minded about most foods and will try most anything once. I love sushi, and Indian or Thai food - I am a huge fan of spicy food. Also, nothing can beat a good bar/pub burger when you're hung over. And noodles, I love me a good noodle shop. I've largely given up carbs, so this means I'm finding new ways to enjoy some classics, and spending more time with bacon, which is not a bad thing :)
My Friends and Family
Books (I have a Kindle, so "literature" is probably more accurate)
A fun, fulfilling job
Good food/beer/wine :)
Spending my Powerball winnings. No, I didn't win powerball, but sometimes I'll buy a ticket just so I can daydream about what it would be like to have (seemingly) endless resources, to be able to spend more time learning, having fun, traveling. Maybe I'll start a company devoted to caring for and rehabilitating Pit Bulls, or economic development... Circumnavigate the world on a sailboat... Spend a couple months in different countries to work a little and learn the language and culture. That sort of stuff :)
Wanderlust, traveling the world. Packing up a backpack and just going wherever... This one has been on my mind a lot, and at some point I'm probably going to take a year or 2 and adventure - want to come along for some of it?
When my desire to be productive and ambitious and my inability to do so for extended periods of time will conflict again...
You like the geeky/funny guy
You have a good recipe for gazpacho
You dig on dive bars with pool tables and good beer (whiskey), but not so much that getting up in the morning and hitting brunch or the Farmer's Market isn't out of the question
Getting in the car with no destination sounds like a fun weekend
Sunday mornings with coffee and crosswords sound just about perfect
You adore brunch
You find THIS terribly amusing (and especially if you are already familiar with the site)
or, just if you want to...
