My self-summary
I grew up in north-central Wisconsin were it is freezing-fucking-cold most of the year, so it drives me crazy when people complain about the 65 degree weather out here. I love solving puzzles, which caries over to my professional life as programmer. I lie very poorly so I try not to do it at all. I like to think I have a pretty good sense of humor and I find a sort of sublime joy in 3 am conversations with friends over bad Denny's coffee.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm working at a software startup company here in San Diego. I love it because it gives me a lot of freedom and creative control without the bureaucratic bullshit that tends to be pervasive at larger companies.
I’m really good at
Programming, Go (the boardgame), running, puzzle solving. Trying to pick up surfing since I moved out here from Chicago a year ago. It's a slow process.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably the beard first off, which I grew at my last job so people would stop thinking that I was a college intern. I also love using obscure words in normal conversation (both my parents are teachers), but I try not to come off as pedantic, with varying degrees success I suppose.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Neuromancer, Bright Lights Big City, Bel Canto, Brave New World, Catch-22.

This is getting boring so i'm going to do the rest of this list circa 1989

DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, TMNT, Sonic the Hedgehog

Billy Joel, The Eagles, Rolling Stones, The Beatles (basically whatever my dad played), oh, and Rockapella

Pizza, hot dogs, mac n cheese, and Welsh's frozen concentrate grape juice. I was a huge juice junky when i was six.
Six things I could never do without
1. nitrogen (78.09%)
2. oxygen (20.95%)
3. argon (0.93%)
4. carbon dioxide (0.039%)

Everything else is negotiable. Also I'm the kind of person that finds that joke hilarious, which probably tells you something right there.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Computer algorithms, the book I just read, beginnings to short stories I'll probably never write.
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing with friends at a quiet bar and maybe a game of pool.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If you can't tell from the above answers, I'm a huge nerd. Best to just get that out of the way now.
You should message me if
you think any of that was mildly entertaining.
