My self-summary
“I'm just a happy kid, stuck with the heart of an old punk.”

I think that sums me up pretty well. I spend a lot of time overthinking things, which you'd think would allow for being able to do a better job of things like writing about myself, but I think it just makes it harder.

I'm an avid reader. I listen to music all time, going to concerts whenever I can. I love bad movie nights. I play video games sometimes, and meet up with friends for Dungeons and Dragons night every couple weeks. I'm a pretty good cook, and can bake a pretty decent loaf of bread from scratch. I brew my own beer too.

I discovered this last year how much I missed camping, and so I went three or four times. Hoping to do at least that much this year.

I think my three favorite places in STL (in no particular order) are City Museum, Powell Hall, and the zoo. (I love the penguins!)

I used to describe myself as a “nerd”, but I think I'm just a “person” instead. I don't really think nerds exist in any form except as some sort of static collage of stereotypes generated from TV shows and movies that haven't been relevant for years, and people change far too often for that.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a QA Engineer for news software. I get paid to complain about bugs in software. It's pretty fun most of the time.

I'm forever trying new things, be it cooking new dishes, exploring new potential hobbies, or just searching for something new to do that night.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh. I have a wry sense of humor that you either love or hate.

I'm also really good at fixing things.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I'm bald (by choice). I've been described as a “comfortably fed Lenin”. Then they usually notice my deep voice. Then, I'd guess the sense of humor. After that, I have no idea.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Just to start throwing things out there:

Books - Breakfast of Champions (hooray Vonnegut), Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Snow Crash, Cryptonomicon, Fight Club, The Trial, Crime and Punishment, The Dresden Files, The Dark Tower series, Steal This Book, The Riverworld Saga, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Fahrenheit 451, Dracula, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Fountainhead.

Movies/TV - I don't really watch a lot of recent TV or movies, but I can name a handful I really liked. Avengers, Iron Man 3, Fringe, Watchmen, Dr. Strangelove, The Hangover, Fargo, Dracula (the one with Gary Oldman), The Big Lebowski, Sherlock Holmes, Cowboy Bebop, Blood+, Dollhouse, Dexter, Star Trek (TNG was my favorite series), Firefly. I also love Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Music - I'm a fan of 90s music, but I pick and choose stuff from about every genre I can think of. I like Live, Operation Ivy, Nada Surf, Radiohead, Supertramp, REM, Better than Ezra, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Nirvana, Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, NOFX, Dead Kennedys, the Ataris, Mozart, Vivaldi, and far, far more. Music is a big deal to me.

Food - Sushi, Mexican, Thai, Indian, pasta, good beer, sake, tea (I love Earl Grey), coffee. I also like a good greasy hamburger once in a while. Pretty much anything that doesn't have mushrooms (there's occasional exceptions) or tomatoes in it.
The six things I could never do without
Anymore? Not sure. I'm going to say music, company, food, and oxygen. Anything else really falls into the “nice to have” category. I guess intangibles are always nice to have. A warm feeling, a funny thought, a concept you can't dance to, and a deed you cannot hum.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything, more than I should.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually getting ready for a weekend trip somewhere or out having food and a drink or two.
You should message me if
