My self-summary
I moved to New York in 1988 and have no plan to leave anytime soon. My life is great but it would be wonderful to have a partner to share it with.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a journalist.
I’m really good at
I am a good listener, empathetic and show up.
The first things people usually notice about me
My green eyes
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Nancy Mitford, E.F. Benson and M.F.K. Fisher are favorite fiction authors. I try to read the Times each day, the New Yorker and Economist every week and the New York Review of Books whenever it arrives.

Movies: I am a gay man of a certain age so films like Now, Voyager, Mildred Pierce, Stella Dallas, etc...are favorites. Film Noir is a favorite genre. All that Heaven Allows, Imitation of Life, Written on the Wind and anything else by Douglas Sirk. Fellini, Fassbinder, Allen are all favorite film-makers. Anyone who knows the Japanese classics by Ozu, Mizoguchi, Naruse, etc...gets extra credit!
I also watch and enjoy some recent Hollywood stuff, it's like pizza, cupcakes and other junk food.

Shows: My favorite television shows are I Love Lucy, the Honeymooners, the Munsters, and anything else I watched in repeats as a child. I also enjoy documentaries, true-crime shows and nature programs.

My favorite Broadway musicals are Gypsy, Fun Home, Follies and Cabaret. I'm a Albee fan and also love the classics. I have to see anything Mark Rylance, Judith Light or Andrea Martin does....very different but I love them,

Music: Female vocalists with BIG voices, 70s and 80s music and classical music. Opera is a new passion.

Food: I love good food. French and Italian are my favorite cuisines, but far from the only ones that I enjoy. Sometimes heavier German and Scandinavian food hits the spot. Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, really just about every Asian cuisine is great to me. A hamburger or steak on a grill is hard to beat.
Six things I could never do without
Friends, a good book, NYC, air conditioner, the ocean and my Macbook
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I can be a better person. I also dream about settling down with a great man some day.
On a typical Friday night I am
I usually meet friends for dinner, read a bit and then head to bed for a good night of sleep after a long week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I will tell you in person.
