My self-summary
Independent thinker and kind of weird. I like what I like. Sometimes, I can be aloof and cynical, but inside, I'm a complete goofball with an open heart and mind. I'm active and prefer to spend time outside or doing something physical. Regular runner until a month ago, now figuring out other ways to be active. Wanna learn to dance?

No one (including myself) would describe me as laid-back or easygoing, but I'm generally cool with letting people do whatever it is that they do, unless it's bigoted or unkind. Not cool.
What I’m doing with my life
I work for a nonprofit in SF supporting evidence-based climate advocacy. It's good work, but it's probably not what I am most passionate about (the actual day-to-day of the job. I'm highly opinionated about issues around climate and the environment). I'm working on discovering what I'd like to do for the rest of my life - or most of the rest of it - and coming up with a plan to work towards whatever that ends up being. Probably something with data.

I'm a recent transplant to the Bay Area (September 2016). Originally from Maryland, I moved out to San Diego in 2015. I ended up finding a job up here, so I am discovering all the neat things to do around these parts.
I’m really good at
Being silly and getting shit done. Dropping things. Walking very fast.

Not good at: baking, clothes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Rbf? My brow furrows when I'm thinking and I'm always thinking, so yeah.

I'm skinny. I give side-eye. I'm weird.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - sometimes I'm in a Carl Hiaasen mood; sometimes Stephen King. I like cozying up with elaborate fantasies (The Name of the Wind; The Warded Man) or tearing through sci-fi (Ready Player One; Armor).

Other stuff I read: Honestly, I don't read many books now because I spend most of my day reading about the incredibly fucked up state of our nation and what it means for climate policy and progress. And progress on other progressive issues. And intersectionality (even though I dislike the term). So after that, I go home and read things on AV Club or Vulture or the non-climate/environment-related stuff on Vox. I also read comics/graphic novels, almost all independent -- Jeff Lemire, Terry Moore, Joe Hill/Gabriel Rodriguez, Brian K. Vaughan...

Movies - I'll watch cerebral stuff and like it. Maybe even love it. But, c'mon, I want to be entertained! Edge of Tomorrow was amazing. I only fell asleep during The Force Awakens the second time around. Anything Miyazaki. Pixar/Disney (I love Zootopia). The Nightmare Before Christmas (and the soundtrack). The Station Agent. Death at a Funeral.

Series - GoT; Les Revenants; Bob's Burgers; Doctor Who; Doc Martin; Haven. Westworld, recently, which has caused me to wander around in a semi-permanent state of confusion. And Stranger Things. Also, Waaaaaaaaaaaalt!

Music - everything from alt-J, Rage Against the Machine, Cold War Kids, Tool, Prokofiev, Darlingside, Florence + the Machine, Stravinsky, Trampled by Turtles, Imagine Dragons, Metallica, Lady Gaga, and one hit wonders from the 90s.

Food - I eat a lot of almond butter. Probably too much. Bread and meat and vegetables are all I need. And cheese + beer.
Six things I could never do without
Head, shoulders, knees and toes. Knees and toes.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Places I want to go and things I want to do.

Climate change; space; art; spaces; color; activities; people; homelessness; murder; socioeconomics.

The optimal positioning of people on BART. The optimal walking route based on time, scenery, and/or errands. Commute times.

What the exchange rate is at Gringotts. If Harry had just said, "Nah. Fuck you, wizarding world." Or if he'd been smart.
On a typical Friday night I am
Tired, usually.

Having a couple of beers with friends and then going to bed so I can rock Saturday.
You should message me if
You're down for hiking, walking, laughing at me while I try to keep up with you on a bike, playing catch,

You'll help me learn to cook tasty food.

You like wandering out of the house early on weekend mornings and finding adventure.
