My self-summary
Well, to start this off with the most basic stuff: my name's Kyle, and I've been living in this area for the past 10 years as I really enjoy it here- always had plenty of stuff to do.

These have included drawing comics in coffee shops, having conversations in the streets with friends where we laughed just a little too loud and drew strange looks, putting on my best clothes and venturing into the mysterious cavernous bars of Northampton, and running through the toil, trials, and tribulations of being a video store clerk. Finding out the sheer number of people who want to rent the Marmaduke movie... well...

It changes a person.

Then, through a series of zany mishaps and wacky misunderstandings, I found myself here on the Okay Cupid.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, for fun: watching entirely too many really bizarre movies, reading all sorts of comic and non-comic books, drawing, going along on some strange adventure a friend of mine may have cooked up.

Work-wise I've managed to pull myself from the wreckage of the video industry and landed a job breaking things at a local video game company. I've also been running the Northampton Branch of Dr. Sketchy's- a burlesque figure drawing event.

This summer my plan is to find out, once and for all, if it's possible to ride a bike too much.
I’m really good at
Losing my place in books. :c

Also, escaping from bears, apparently. It's happened before.
The first things people usually notice about me
Recently that I've started going gray. I like it.

Otherwise it's that no matter what I always sort of look like someone's professor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Oh good lord, here we go.

Books: Asterios Polyp, The Road, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Black Hole, Ghost World, Lunar Park, anything from Kurt Vonnegut. A People's History of the United States.

Movies: are the best. Rushmore, Eternal Sunshine, Seven Samurai, O Brother Where Art Thou, The Tenant, Wet Hot American Summer, Oldboy, Shaun of the Dead, There Will Be Blood, Annie Hall, and many, many others.

Shows: I have TV Guilt as I'm not caught up with as much recent stuff. Game of Thrones, The Wire, Louie, Deadwood. Dr. Who, definitely. Daily Show and Colbert, and I basically grew up on MST3K and Buffy.

Music: Tom Waits and Nick Cave are probably my spirit animals. White Stripes, Royksopp, M83, Sigur Ros.

Food: I like almost anything if done well. Sushi's nice! Learning how to cook Thai curries- decided to try it on a whim and have since decided I'll get good at it.

Podcasts: Because I listen to 'em a lot. Radiolab, This American Life, WTF with Marc Maron, Wiretap, My Brother My Brother and Me, Too Much Information, Savage Lovecast.
Six things I could never do without
Something to draw on.
New films to watch and books and articles to read.
Witty banter.
Having good people in my life.
The internet. Whoops.
Coffee. All of it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Projects I'd like to work on but haven't had the time for yet. When I'm feeling it, some weird mix of history, science, and philosophical musings.

How little information we get in this country- it's amazing how little we know about the world.

That I'm increasingly discovering I'm even less of a fan of Capitalism than I thought I was.

I'm also pretty sure that instead of being the arrogant and regal plotters of human suffering, like they're always characterized as, cats are just huge dorks.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm not curled up drawing or reading, I'm going out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
that i have an okcupid account lol

For an actual real answer, it's that I'm a big ol' softy and I cry at Pixar movies. They're manly tears, so it's okay.

I have more but you have to message me first.
You should message me if
If you saw something you liked in the profile and liked it, I should think!
