My self-summary
(Relatively) recent import to St Catharines (via Windsor) from the UK... mates & dates required!

Finished my PhD, hence the big move... Also, the big need for some gym-time - "Average" is NOT the Body Type I want to be displaying over --->
The last few months of a PhD are a right sod, I don't mind saying.

Am considered good fun by most of the people who know me, and have quite a variable sense of humour (or should that be humor over here?) - often sarcastic, occasionally obscure, sometimes flippant. Like to talk - not in the sense of hearing my own voice, but in terms of discourse; as happy to speak as to listen - about a whole range of subjects. I have my hobby-horses, but then who doesn't?

An old personality test (thespark.com!) said:

You are an EXPERIMENTER (DIAT). Although you're slightly shy (admit it), you love control. When a problem comes your way, you stomp on it swiftly and decisively. You are bothered easily by failure in others and failure in yourself. You don't like people that you don't think are intelligent. Rather than arguing with them, however, you would just as soon ignore them altogether.
In relationships, you have a strong heart. And because you're introverted, people take you as someone they can trust. But the fact is that in addition to solving problems, you like to create them.
You're a good person at heart, but then again, who isn't?

.... I'm not saying how accurate that is.
What I’m doing with my life
Just started post-doctoral research at the University of Windsor. Am an organic chemist by trade, but do all sorts.... Climbing the academic ladder, one rusty step at a time!
I’m really good at
1. Chemistry (I hope)
2. Being a good friend. I'd like to think that I'm the kind of friend who can be there when I am needed, and not just when I am needed to drink vodka
3. World Domination
4. Other stuff
The first things people usually notice about me
The english accent? That I don't appear shy, despite claiming to be just that?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Bookwise, am a complete fantasy nerd - I rather enjoy the escapism. Robert Jordan would be my favourite author - Wheel of Time ftw. Also, Terry Pratchett rocks my world. Though the last one was a bit lame...

Movies? Much the same. Wolverine sucked, but the Marvel films generally make me happy. Ditto with the escapism.

Music - pretty broad tastes, though I do like my thumpa thumpa. I will admit that on occasion I do have the musical tastes of a 12 year old girl... but that only comes out when drunk.

Foodwise... Curry or Chinese is best! Thai is also pretty gorgeous... need to try more far-eastern cuisine. Generally not a fan of seafood.
Six things I could never do without
1. The internet
2. Something to blow up
...more to follow
I spend a lot of time thinking about
All sorts - but I will confess, chemistry has a significant place! Latest books I've read (or want to read), what to eat today, what to do tomorrow, how I am going to take over the world.
On a typical Friday night I am
Haven't had enough fridays over here yet to know what a "typical" one would be :)
Back in the UK would usually go out with friends... or have an early night and prepare for a big one on saturday :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, according to an ex's best friend, the ex was known to describe me as "shag of the century". And yes, I am somewhat smug about that... in a modest-ish way.
You should message me if
you know what's good for you ;)

Message me if you're going to challenge me... I will expect you to be pretty damn special, and you should expect the same.
