My self-summary
Imagine a big goofy dog in human form: insatiable curiosity, relentlessly energetic, unconditionally loving. Throw unapologetically sexy in there somewhere and you have me. Take me on a hike! Nicknames I've had are: "Lumberjack", "Viking Bear Lord", "Mountain Man", and "Zen Bear". I am an optimist who will make light of any situation, and will find humor in everything and anything. I do my best to bring passion to everything I do. My personality can sometimes be a blend of opposite extremes. You're just as likely to see me loudly being the center of attention as you are to find me lost in reflective thought. Overall I'm a happy, goofy dork who's full of laughter and more love than I can contain - when I'm not being a troll, that is.

Love is so big and takes so many forms. I love everyone; those who identify as straight, queer, transgender, manly men, womanly women, and so on - but if I had to pick a "type", it would be nerds. I love smiles, especially the giant uninhibited ones that come straight from the heart. I'm very sex positive, love positive, and believe that everyone should be free to love without boundaries. I identify as queer, that's the word all the cool kids are using, and I'll use that until the next cool term comes along. You could say that I'm more interested in the tea than the cup. I strive to live with my heart and soul as open to the world as possible. You will find me to be honest and trusting to a fault. I have no shame. I strive to live life as an open book, and inspire others to do the same.

Science is my religion. The fact that life is an inherent property of the universe brings me great peace. Every living thing is part of an unbroken chain of life. We are star stuff; the same matter that beats in our hearts once made a star shine. Who needs more religion than that?

Portland has been my home for most of my life, and I love it! It is a blessing to know such a fun, weird city that is so remarkably close to an amazing variety of natural beauty.

The things I take seriously, I am very serious about. Everything else is play. I will make you laugh, and I am weird in what I believe are to be good ways.

The great outdoors plays a big role in my life. Hiking, camping, adventuring; getting myself into the thick of it, and taking it all in.

When I'm not out exploring the world, I'll stay busy always learning new things. What excites you? I would love to hear about it, no matter how esoteric it may be.

These days I'm extremely busy with all kinds of exciting projects, so if I take a little while to get back to you, don't despair. I'm polyamorous, dating multiple people, and it is very exciting; the world is bigger and more full of love than I ever imagined it could be. I strongly believe that people can explore love, intimacy, and the human connection together without exclusivity or exorbitant possessiveness. Love grows when shared, and the human heart has such limitless potential.

Some of the very important loves in my life are pdxphotolover, czr304, everydayglow, everyouthful, and DoctorMega; I am lucky to have these amazing people in my world, and share so much love with each of them.

Right now, I am a time where I am more self-focused than other-focused. Exciting things are coming into place for me, along with incredible challenges. Everything I am facing is bringing me tremendous growth. That said, I am always open to meeting new wonderful people as time allows!

I work to embrace the world as it is, without bais; to see everything we encounter, good and bad, pleasant and painful, all as manifestations of awakened energy. Anything and everything, from the greatest joy to the greatest heartache is a means by which we can grow and awaken further.

Don't be discouraged if you send me a message and I don't get back right away. I may think you are awesome and simply don't have the time to meet someone new at that exact moment in time!

I look forward to reinventing my personality based on your test answers to match what I believe you are looking for.
What I’m doing with my life
Creating order from entropy, and entropy from order. I help run a hiking group, and love leading friends and new friends on adventures through this amazing pacific northwest. I'm growing both my photography and website businesses. Finding peace, embracing love, and pursuing wisdom. Unashamedly being myself. Continually discovering that friendship is magic. Having those weird moments of awareness where you realize how peculiar this life is, and the realization that nothing can be taken completely seriously.

I'm equally likely to be stomping through the woods at night, exploring the columbia river gorge, or hacking away until dawn on some esoteric programming project of dubious practicality.

Right now I have found myself pursuing opportunities in hollywood working for a production company as their CTO, as a stills photographer, and special effects artist among other things - my job is awesome!
I’m really good at
Simply being. Learning. Photography. Living with passion. Making movies. Hiking. Technology. Seeing the big picture. Giving advice. Stargazing. Wookiee noises. Making myself laugh. Getting people to laugh with me. Getting people to laugh at me. Innuendo, and talking dirty while also talking nerdy. Programming. Trolling. Writing. Breaking down walls: intellectual, emotional, and physical. Breaking chairs. Cannonballs into pools. Capturing embarrassing and silly moments. Loving. Barking at dogs. Barking with dogs. Snuggling. Turning the worst of things into the best of things. Naked dances. Making Hummus.
The first things people usually notice about me
The beard, my smile. My huge ... camera. How easy I am to talk to about *anything*, even though we've just met - that's basically my super power: people will open up to me about things they've never told anyone else within a few minutes of meeting me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The usual nerd movies: Revenge of the Nerds, Firefly, Star Wars, Star Trek, Hackers. Planet Earth and other educational shows. The Big Bang Theory makes me feel less alone in the world.

The works of Carl Sagan, Pema Chodron, my photography books,
classic sci fi, Richard Dawkins. I could go on and on; I have a
huge bookshelf full of books - which is turning into a smaller
shelf of books accompanied by a kindle.

I love just about every kind of real food, and I love eating new
things that I've never tried before. I am a crunchy peanut butter and pulpy orange juice kind of guy, with little respect for you smooth pulpless people. Mayonnaise can go fuck itself.

In terms of liquid consumption, my friends call me "the tea fairy", even though I work to make tea absolutely as manly as possible. Matcha is hardcore, yo. Coffee isn't real coffee unless it's locally sourced. Rum needs to be finely crafted.

There really needs to be a "Games" section, so I'll add: Gears of War trilogy, Chrono Trigger, Terranigma, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VI.

This section really should be open to quotations too, so I'll share a couple:

“Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

"The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows."
Six things I could never do without
Universal gravitation, metabolism, sentience, love, friends, tea & coffee, dogs, science, my camera, nature, passion, stargazing, laughter, ejaculating, appreciation, challenges.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The cosmos, science, life, and the beauty of it all. Science. Things big and little. Immediacy and eternity. Sex. Psychology and human behavior. How the world ended up the way it is now. How fart jokes can possibly still be so funny to a grown man who on occasion pretends to be an adult. Where I want to go, and how I want to be. Philosophy. Burritos. Where I want to go next. The next prank I'm going to play. How shockingly small of a list one comes up with when tasked with describing what they think about the most!
On a typical Friday night I am
With friends, getting my nerd on, or getting my nerd on with friends. In still, quiet reflection - or in hyperactive, loud reflection. Having a good meal after a good hike. Reading. On a walk. Looking at stars. Editing photos. Busy with 25 wikipedia tabs open on different topics. Programming. Learning. Out on some sort of spontaneous adventure. Not being held accountable for the trouble I am getting into.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There's not much I won't admit, as the very notion of "too much
information" only barely, barely exists in my world - I consider this to be a great quality!

Oh, and I giggle like a little girl sometimes, but it's actually super manly the way I do it.
You should message me if
You have an open heart, an open mind, and passion for the world.

You'd like to go on a date!

Horse masks do not terrify you too much.

My potentially crazy schedule is something you can live with.

If you're willing to be the big spoon AND the little spoon - although if you're smaller than me, and the big spoon, I call that "jetpacking".

You want to see my wookiee, if you want to hear my award-winning wookiee howl, or if you're not put off by how many times I've somehow managed to mention wookiees or other strange noises in my profile.
The two of us
