My self-summary
I'm a pretty laid back guy but I've run into the problem that, while one usually meets new people through their friends, I seem to have plopped my self down in a brand new city a while back and every time I make a new friend, they move to California, or Washington, or Louisiana, or some other non-here place. What's a guy to do?

The checklist goes something like this:
-Cooking? check
-A wee bit pretentious about video games? check
-Craft beer? (I almost typed "craft bees") bzzzt!
-Artsy? yup.
-Boardgames? you betcha!

I'm pretty much a big kid, an unconscionably responsible big kid.

I'd love to meet people who have some sense about them(without being Mr. or Ms. serious face), have a healthy respect for the sciences(if not a true understanding, because who can keep track of it all?) and realize that the political extremes are both equally wrong.

I love to hear about people's problems, it does me more good than talking about mine... If you're really awesome or interested in something I like, I can talk for a while too, but that's all too rare.
What I’m doing with my life
I've started making beer and video games!

I graduated college in '09, moved 3000 miles, and got a great job. I'm trying to get back into art, and some AI projects, but it's slow going.

Also, I just went to China last year... so there's that.
I’m really good at
spinning things, the french drop, juggling, FPSs, card castles, strategy games, unusual but delightful flavor pairing... and other stuff.

I did recently win both hottest and best flavor in a hotsauce competition.
The first things people usually notice about me
ummm... fauxhawk? my various stages of beardedness?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Ender's game/shadow, Foundation, misc sci-fi

Movies/TV: Fight Club, Elf, Wristcutters: A Love Story, BSG, Game of Thrones, Dexter, SG-1/Atlantis/U, Dr. Who!

Music:8bitpeoples/Random, The Naked And Famous, The Postal Service, AWOL NATION, Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, The Naked and Famous, Miike Snow, Death Cab for Cutie, Discovery, The Secret Handshake, Justice, MGMT, Lady Gaga(yea, I know, but it's really a matter of me liking her DJ/producers, she's just an audio sample for them to remix), (basically, Indie/Electronica, catchy pop, popular goth rock, female soul singers, even a little country now and then)

Games(Video): Serious Sam, Spelunky, Worms, Elder scrolls, Diablo series, Torchlight, Knytt, tower defense and rougelike genres, see

Games(Board): Dominion, Battle line, Chess, Lines of action, Twilight struggle.

Food: Thai, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Mediterranean, waffles, meatloaf, things with cinnamon, basil, ginger, honey, garlic, or hot peppers(I think I'm developing an tolerance, the XXX habanero sauce is starting to taste a little bland, I love hot peppers, except jalapenos, they're gross), + all kinds of stuff!
Six things I could never do without
some form of entertainment (book, game, movie), cookware, shade, a notebook, love, clean water. Bonus: Habaneros, love em!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what really matters, the possibility/impossibility of a true utopia, applied Artificial Intelligence, creative ways to meet new people.
On a typical Friday night I am
having a beer and relaxing from a long week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I totally forgot that I had this in my profile, but I think I'll leave it in because it made me laugh when I re-discovered it (ind if it weirds you out, you're to serious-face andhow): I sometimes enjoy the smell of my own mustache (especially because I don't know what anyone else's mustache smells like)

Also, 2 of the last three girls who kissed me were lesbians... I guess I'm the kind of guy who gets along well with women who don't usually like men, and I'm not quite sure what to think about that.
You should message me if're interested in meeting someone new.

I'd love to meet just about anyone and see what the chemistry's like (platonic or otherwise), because that's far more important than a list of hobbies or favorite things.
