My self-summary
Genuine, sophisticated but down-to-earth, funny, honest, creative, tall, handsome, confident, sensual, very intelligent and never boring. These are descriptions my closest women friends tell me to use (after plied with Godivas and roses).

Descriptions of how I view myself outside of my friend’s descriptions: self-effacing, athletic, intellectually curious about many subjects with a passion for movies and the visual arts (a past life career), music, health, politics, psychology and travel. I am well traveled, especially in the US, Europe and Asia.

I love to dance. I walk multiple miles/day, as well as enjoying sailing, scuba diving, recreational biking, golf (early beginner), skiing and snowboarding, especially with my daughters.

While I have been a high earner at times, I prefer depth & character over status symbols.

I've changed careers a couple of times leveraging one into the other: from movies to high tech media exec to healthcare technology over my career span.

I can be a stylish dresser when required, while T-shirt, light walking pants and thongs (the shoe kind) are my de rigueur when no one is paying attention or cares.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently, work wise, I'm a hospital executive in San Francisco in charge of clinical improvement programs. I changed careers from tech to medicine in the last decade, by getting a RN, MS, and recently a PhD as legitimizing degrees, in order to facilitate the opportunity to make a positive and substantive difference in people's lives.
I’m really good at
Understanding an array of subjects and issues and being able to see truth in and empathize with lots of points of view. I love finding humor and a wry perspective in almost any situation.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm tall with a nice smile and California native easy going calm nature....
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies...
... a huge list. Given I was a film major undergrad and worked in Hollywood at Warners, I like a range of movies - from mysteries to comedies to documentaries, and everything in between, with the movies that top my list: Chinatown, Shawshank Redemption, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Ground Hogs Day, 3 Days of the Condor, Multiplicity, All the President's Men, Get Shorty, Money Ball, Casino, LA Confidential, The Usual Suspects, among many others. My favorite directors are the Scott and Coen brothers, Kubrick, Sidney Pollack and Michael Mann. Most of the foreign films I like no one has heard of, so I won't mention them here, with the exception of The Great Beauty, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 2014.
Reading...
... recent reading, Love Sense and Attached, two psych books on attachment theory, which my school psychologist daughter says is the most rock solid research in psychology.
... for expanding my mind, I like evolutionary psych books like The Happiness Hypothesis, and more recently from the same author, The Righteous Mind, as well as cross studies in psych and neurology like Thinking Fast & Slow and Human (my PhD is in neurology and pharmacology).
Music...
... though I enjoy most music, my favorites include classical, jazz, opera, 60s to 90s rock, hip hop, Irish and American roots, depending on my mood.
Food:
... I enjoy fine cuisine & wine. While a fairly good cook of Italian, French, Chinese dishes, I can BBQ with the best of cavemen.
The six things I could never do without
- The love of my partner, family and friends
- A balanced, positive and fun attitude
- Movies
- Music
- My daily multi-mile walk up and down the Sausalito hills with my rescue dog, Alfie
- Intellectual stimulation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything on this page.... and then some.
On a typical Friday night I am
Enjoying a relaxing glass of wine, hopefully at a comfortable good restaurant, but often enjoying the Bay views from my living room.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Just between you and me? Come closer and I'll whisper it to you over the Internet. ;-) I was married for 30+ years, with the split being very amicable and we remain good friends.
You should message me if
...you want to get to know me better after reading my Profile above, as well as the Personality and The Two of Us tabs... and call the Bay Area your permanent home.
