My self-summary
Small-town boy from northern England, living in St. Louis, working for a University. Really love running around Forest Park, playing football (soccer), swimming. Also, beer. Bit of a loner, but good craic at the pub. Keeping the demons at bay with self-denigrating humour.
What I’m doing with my life
Researching geological mysteries. Watching Netflix. Staying in bed. Saving up for a piano (update: I bought a guitar instead - easier to take on a plane).
I’m really good at
making people laugh, honestly. Science, I guess. Working stuff out.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm from England and living in St. Louis, so my British accent. Then, I dress quite well, sometimes. People say that. Also, a girl once told me I had perfect eyebrows.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Fahrenheit 451, A Dirty Job, Gödel Escher Bach (An eternal golden braid), To Kill a Mockingbird, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (esp. So Long and Thanks for all the Fish), V for Vendetta, Iain (M) Banks, Philip K. Dick

Films: The Cooler, The Constant Gardener, The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974 version, NOT the remakes), Michael Clayton, Inception (which had a brilliant soundtrack), the Wes Anderson canon, The Truman Show, Blade Runner, L.A. story.

Shows: Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, Wallander, the Swedish miniseries adaptation of Steig Larsson's Millenium books, Luther, QI, the IT crowd, Mitchell and Webb.

Music: I could go on forever about music - if you can too, we'll get on. I love going to the Symphony too - music is one thing that will make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Food: Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Thai, Sushi - anything with rice, apparently. Also, Fried Chicken, and I recently tried Ethiopian and it was awesome.
The six things I could never do without
music, my computer, a hot shower, good beer, my sense of purpose, my friends.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The plethora of differences between the USA and Europe. How I wish life was more like 30 Rock.
On a typical Friday night I am
at a bar, with friends, putting the world to rights. Or, watching some live music. Or watching a film.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cried at a performance of the Planets suite by Holst - shut it, haters.
You should message me if
you feel like it. I won't judge. Or, you are Aubrey Plaza.
