My self-summary
I would love to say that I'm laid back and easy going, but that's untrue and I don't want to start our relationship with a lie. I love to laugh and spend time outdoors, and I spend a little too much time (and money) trying new restaurants and eating out with friends. My biggest indulgences are travel and things that are sold on late night TV (it slices and dices???) and I'm a sucker for anything sold at the Container Store.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but I'm not one of those people who brags about not even owning a television and I can usually be convinced to watch any really bad 80s action movie. I also watch France 24 in an effort to improve my French, but so far no luck. I read a fair amount, but it really depends on the week and how much I go out. I try to read two books per month and lots of current affairs magazines (ok, Glamour is not exactly the Economist, but I subscribe to them both so they cancel each other out).

I'm outgoing, like to talk to strangers and I like all vegetables (although I am not a big fan of eggplant). I'd be interested in hearing from you if you are the type of person who: helps old ladies cross the street; likes to sing in the shower and think you sound good when you do; thinks brunch is the best meal of the day; and have never been involved in a sex scandal (college years do not count).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm still working that out. If you have the answer to this question then I would like to meet you as soon as possible. Until then, I am living in New York after having lived in Geneva and Bangkok the last 3 years. Mostly I am getting settled in my new(ish) job, hanging out with friends, getting reacquainted with the city and still trying to learn French. I am also still wondering why they cancelled Arrested Development, but some of life's mysteries will never be solved.

Oh, I'm also looking for a potential love interest, hence the time spent on this site. If you are the answer to that then I would most definitely like to meet you.
I’m really good at
Getting other people to cook for me, making babies laugh, giving advice.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I have a distinctive laugh? My firm handshake? My uncanny ability to see into the depths of their soul? I have no idea. When we meet, please make note of your impressions so we can laugh later about how incredibly wrong you were.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like different genres of writing, including non-fiction, biographies, fiction, history and how-to books. Recent reads include books about the assassination of President McKinley, a history of the mob in Cuba, time management and mindfulness. In terms of music I like soul/neo-soul r&b, electronica, pop, rock, salsa, some country, some classical. I like action movies and thrillers and I usually detest historical dramas and period pieces and/or anything with Keira Knightly. I like all food .. alot.
Six things I could never do without
Passport, iPod, books, breakfast, exercise, my friends, my aunt (not in that order)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Writing the great American novel, world domination and how I can recycle more.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends or passed out on my couch by 9pm. It depends on my week at work.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a bad sense of smell because one nostril doesn't really work, and it also prevents me from diving. Also, I like to watch Murder, She Wrote and the Golden Girls on the Hallmark Channel; don't judge me, I am a work in progress.
You should message me if
... you like to meet new people, you are funny and don't take yourself too seriously. Also, I have a filter for messages that have fewer than three words and that begin with "hi sweetie" or "hi baby", so if you send me a message please say more than "hi" and don't call me sweetie or baby.
