My self-summary
I have an appreciation for the rich cultural diversity of urban life and feel grateful for my growing up years in NYC. Spending time outdoors in nature is essential for me - and I especially love being near water, the beauty of the high mountains and the spaciousness of desert landscapes. I thrive on some depth in conversation - but definitely with some humor mixed in. Feel drawn to things a bit offbeat. I feel lucky to have such a large community of old and close friends. I resonate with Buddhist philosophy and appreciate many traditions that have wisdom to share. I have a wide range of interests and a hearty background in many things - the healing arts, film production, cooking and dance to mention a few. Laying around reading is like dessert for me - and poetry - good medicine for my soul. Many thanks to Jon Stewart and others for the comic relief they provide in the face of the many political absurdities.
What I’m doing with my life
Pushing the edge enough to land my day to day life more heartily in what I care about most.
I’m really good at
Caring about people, being real.
The first things people usually notice about me
My ability to express complex things in simple ways and my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love movies, live music, dance, some theater, poetry events, storytelling, photography, personal and political art. I listen to a music from all over the world, jazz, blues, bluegrass. I love Joe Strummer's soulful voice, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Patty Smith, Cesaria Evora, Fado, Emmylou Harris, Astor Piazzola to name a few. I'm big on cooking so I enjoy tasting interesting flavors wherever I go.
The six things I could never do without
Love, people, creative expression (many forms), time outdoors in nature, spending time with cats & other animal friends, movement (martial arts, Argentine tango, authentic movement - a meditative movement form I've been involved with for many years), laughter/humor, Limontaur beach, putting my hands in soil and growing things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The delisting of wolves from endangered species protection, the political debates that never make it to prime time and the beauty and enormous creativity of human expression in all its many forms.
