I've been thinking a lot about bicycles recently and how they can solve so many problems in the modern world. If everyone rode a bike to work or school, (1) we would reduce obesity, (2) end some of our reliance on fossil fuels, (3) make wars in the Middle East even more unjustifiable, (4) massively reduce our carbon footprint as a nation, (5) be less fearful of climate change, (6) reduce the number of deaths caused by motor vehicle accidents, (7) save money on gas, (8) enjoy riding a clean, non-polluting machine that is 99% efficient (cars are only 15-30% efficient). The bicycle is a marvel of human engineering.
These days I help run a cycling group that explores interesting parts of the city and beyond.
