My self-summary
Hi!

Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile.

tldr: White collar brain, blue collar sensibilities.

Since I have no real idea what to put in this profile, here's a bunch of random factoids about me.

I think it'd be fun to snuggle up and watch any one of Robot Chicken, South Park, 30 Rock, or anything else with a sick and twisted, yet clever, sense of humor. I also think it would be hilarious to get a group of people together and sing Tom Leher songs, or Monty Python, in bars and taverns.

I love good food and drink. Meat is yummy, yummy murder. A
well-mixed cocktail is a thing of beauty. Beer good! A delicate mixed salad (not so much dressing, sheesh!), a hearty soup, elegant and subtle sushi or bbq-d oysters, I love it all, except, sadly, mushrooms. I know, I know.

I'm not the slightest bit religious, but I think those little streams
that come falling off the mountains here in Washington are awesome, to the point of being little miracles. Yes, water table, yes winds that blow from ocean to the west up in to the mountains, yes physics and meteorology and all that, it's still a frickken miracle and I love it.

Another little miracle for me is the ability of a spinning wheel to
self-stabilize, and the very fun and freedom-conferring applications
of modern technology that utilize that little fact. In other words,
LET'S RIDE! And remember, Safety Third!

I love fierce passion, whether it's sexual (growl!) or intellectual
(eureka!) or artistic (immense!) or love (swoon!), or even silly (snork!). If there's a dark and sinister component to any and all of that mixed in, so much the better.

I'm *very* loyal. If you're my friend, there's very little that I wouldn't do for you.

I like to build things with my hands and brains. (not literally; eww!).

At this very moment, my housing situation sucks. But within a month or two, as soon as the short-sale goes through, that will all change.

I think kissing is an art, and practice makes perfect. I love to
kiss, I can do it for hours, anywhere, anytime. But not with just
anyone.

I don't think love is a zero sum game, but polyamoury is very
complicated and not my ideal personal arrangement.

My friends are as important to me as my family, maybe even more so. My friends are interesting and diverse, and I love them, even when they bug the shit out of me (as I'm sure I do them, occasionally).

I was born with both the crazy gene and the responsible gene, so I like to be both at different times. I work hard, save money, pay my bills, and clean the house. Then, when all that's taken care of, I like to go play and get wild. It doesn't always quite happen in that order, though...

I believe puns, whether intended or not, should neither be explained nor pointed out.

I love music, and I'm hoping you'll share the music you love with me, while I do the same for you. I like my music strong, emotional, beautiful, full of laughter and meaning.

I like my sex dirty, nasty, kinky, loud, messy, and fun. Or loving,
gentle, and affectionate, and fun. Or a mixture thereof.

The world is too interesting a place, filled with too many interesting
people, not to explore it. And life is short and we're burning
daylight.

I think freedom negates fear. We have the ability to choose (life,
career, friends, actions, whatever), and when we use that ability we grow stronger and braver. That said, I also believe nothing lends itself to success more than perseverance; not intelligence, not skills or natural talent, not money, not connections (although...), not luck. Do we feel motivated now? Do we need to make a poster?

My biggest personal goal in life right now is to make a meaningful contribution to the field of systems biology, via becoming a master at my craft, which is the thrilling world of software. Biology is fascinating. Programming, less so, unless you're actively involved in it, but I like it.

I think atheism and buddhism are mutually compatible.

I believe in personal responsibility, the corrupting effects of power,
that we should as a society address global warming but probably won't, mixed socialism and capitalism, equal pay for equal work, legalized drugs (tho I don't partake myself very often), taxing the rich, and that the banking system in its current state has become parasitical. I probably believe many other things as well.

I like to have fun. Let's get dressed up (or down), take some dance classes, make some yummy food, explore the city, go hiking, argue about something, go for a ride, make fun of the tourists, go be tourists, or build something sick.
What I’m doing with my life
Besides filling out okcupid forms, I'm working at helping scientists with their software needs. Riding (bikes and motorcycles), and getting the bikes ready for the upcoming season Motorcycle Soccer season. I Socialize. I Exercise. I went travelling in May, to Moab, UT (Woot!). And I've been reading (GOT, a history of the Renaissance, and now starting Mark Twain).
I’m really good at
I'm a good thinker (I think).

I'm pretty creative and articulate. I'm happy when I'm building something, or making something work. I love to ride anything with two wheels.

I'm also a good listener. Really. What?
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea. You can tell me, if you like.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Here's a partial list:

Books and Authors: Dune, Snowcrash, Catch-22, Salinger, Steinbeck, Hunter S. Thompson, Feynman, Alan Moore; Confederacy of Dunces, Kurt Vonnegut.

I liked Salinger because he seemed to ache on behalf of beauty, and because he wrote gently about terrible feelings.

I liked Dune because it was a more fun introduction to real politic than Machiavelli, and he could fit an entire galaxy into a sentence.

Hunter just cut straight to the bone with a flaming knife. Feynman delighted in creation and embraced science with childlike innocence and joy. Alan Moore made deconstruction and other literary esoterica accessible to anyone, even children, and Vonnegut transported us to atrocity with a grin on his face and a compassionate heart beneath the outer crust.

Movies: All That Jazz, Dead Man, The Incredibles, Naked Lunch, Buffalo66, Alien, Snatch, anything by Kurasawa, Hitchcock, Blade Runner and Alien, the Thin Man, Pink Flamingos, Clerks, Team America, Secretary, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Foxy Brown, the Cohen Brothers (Dude!), Bull Durham, The Incredibles. Bull Durham.

Music: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Holidae, Duke Ellington, Flogging Molly, Asylum St. Spankers, Betty Davis, Garbage, AC/DC, Gogol Bordello, Dick Dale, Leonard Cohen, NIN, Radiohead, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, the Doors, Eartha Kitt, Duke Ellington, Betty Davis, Miles Davis, Tina Turner, Gracy May, Modest Mouse, Bad Religion, the Stones, Tom Waits, Led Zepplin, Hell's Belles, the Pouges, NIN, Emily Autumn, Bach, Audioslave, Bad Religion.

Shows: Firefly, Buffy, 30Rock, Blue Planet, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Robot Chicken, South Park.

Food: Asian (almost all of it, except for things like jellyfish and chicken feet), homemade chicken soup, chicken-fried steak from the Jules Mae (also their bacon-wrapped shrimp), grilled cheese with homegrown tomato on strong sourdough, honeycrisp apples, clams and oysters on the bbq with hot sauce. And a well made Old Fashion or a pint of Mendocino Red Tail Ale to wash it all down; or tea, as appropriate. Pho.

Speaking of food, one of my goals for this autumn is to become a better cook.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, family, something with two wheels to ride, my sense of humor, and something to read. My sense of freedom and the ability to write my own story. Chopsticks. The internet. Soap. Tools. The joy of breaking silly rules set by computer dating sites (and other places). Mischief.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...the perfect crime.

...are bugs conscious? If not, at what level on the food chain does consciousness begin?

...how long it's going to take the damn bank to sell me that house I want. Short sales: grrrrr.... And I think about what I'll do with it when it's finally mine (joy!);

...how getting back in to the gym this winter will make me faster on the motorcycle (and other nice benefits);

...how to spread my good luck around;
On a typical Friday night I am
Out and about, or in the garage working on something. Or doing something else.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Pat Robertson is probably a closeted homosexual. Rick Santorum definitely is.
You should message me if
- if you have a sharp mind;
- if you like exploring (places, people, things, ideas);
- if you always wanted to learn to ride a motorcycle (or already know how!);
- if you think your partner should be your best friend;
- if you have a twisted sense of humor;
- if you've been a bad girl.
