My self-summary
I like the woods at night, the stars, trees, wind--it's safer then Chicago during the day!! I love to drive my car, anywhere, anytime, such as for MOW--it's great on gas, and it plays Sirius radio!! I love my horses (3); they've known me longer than some of my friends. I laugh a lot, for appropriate and inappropriate reasons, and I'll cry if I hit a bird while I'm driving. I try to understand everyone's reasonable point of view, but if it doesn't include empathy, it won't carry as much weight. This photo was taken 11/11 and since then I have lost about 25 lbs, mostly going to the Rush and keeping very busy after my knee surgery.
What I’m doing with my life
I am retired, but as my friend Mandie says 'I'm the busiest retired person she's ever known'. I always have a list of projects, but now I say 'There's always tomorrow to finish'.
I am making this old, 1907 farm house, a 'Funky' house, not a showplace, but a comfortable, fun place to have people for dinner, sit in front of the wood stove and cuddle, or have a big party!! I did have knee surgery in November, going to the Rush as well as physical therapy, I am now in great shape.
I’m really good at
Well, if you started at the beginning this will come as no surprise, I am a good driver!! Also good at making project lists and getting things done relatively quick. I love to cook, my key lime pie is requested--and chili is always different, but good! And probably most important is I'm a good listener.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair!! I once had a woman, in Pgh., grab my hair because she thought it was a wig!! It's always been curly, but as a teenager, I ironed it to look more like Twiggy!! Remember her? Also, I've been told I don't look my age!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love Carl Hiassen books, and historical novels
I pretty much love action w/Bruce Willis--I know, silly, but it's the reluctant hero that's so much fun
Music can get me up and dancing, singing (you might not want to hear that), and just doing things--Sting, Pink Floyd, CSN & Young, Wood Brothers, George Benson, David Gray-(should I go on?)
Food- I do love good chocolate, especially dark, and spicy beans w/vegetables, so many possibilities.
Six things I could never do without
1. Mountains (including the trees and birds)
2. Clean water (every living thing needs it)
3. Clean air (thanks EPA)
4. My little Ford Fiesta
5. My horses, as long as they shall live
6. My family and friends (maybe that's really 7, but I couldn't
delete either
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Who i am. What i want and don't want. The state of politics today and what i can do about it. The severe shortage of water in CA. and so many other places. The IRS. Accounting. Can i really do all of this work myself? ? Do birds have thoughts.
Wow, i need to stop thinking! !
On a typical Friday night I am
There's so many different things to do! I could go to Magnolia Rays w/my friend, or I could try combing all the burrs out of my horses manes and tails, or I could read, watch a movie(dvd), or make a list for what I need to do over the weekend, which is an interesting concept since I am retired.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't know how to flirt--according to my sister and good friend.
I've just never learned. Sometimes Mandie and I will be at the Arboretum or somewhere, and after we talk with a gentleman, She'll say 'he was flirting with you'--News to me!! I guess because I don't flirt, I also don't pick up on it !!
You should message me if
You enjoy meeting new people and are open minded. This dating thing can be so frustrating, so you really have to look at it in a new light-- new experiences, learning about people also teaches about yourself!
