Love. A short word but a big one. Easy to say, hard to live up to. True love is pretty much the opposite of what it masquerades as on our lips. Usually when we say "I love you", what we really mean is "I love the way you make me feel". Do we actually mean "I love you. Your being is on a pedestal at the end of my psychic/psychological garden. You are the most important person to me. I place you above myself in terms of need" or if we're just saying "I've always fancied you, and now you are within my grasp". Are we simply confusing our appetites -- or our need for companionship -- with a raw, spiritual way of being?
I have what some people would describe as a bizarre and/or tangential sense of humor. I don't know about all that, but few things make me LMFAO more than a well-placed non sequitur. And yes, I do love to laugh. I am an urban dweller who loves the great outdoors. I've had a storied and interesting life. Not everyone gets me and I am fine with that. I like and know all kinds of interesting people from all walks of life. I'd like to get to know you as well, to see if we can have a friendship or wherever we want to take it to from there.
My non-fiction palate is more diverse. I LOVE ecological, cultural and military histories. I also prefer political commentary of a specific persuasion. I also read a good bit of spiritual teaching and self-improvement books. Once again, whatever crosses my path ...
Movies: That's a tall order. Some all-time favorites include Taxi Driver, Miller's Crossing, The Matrix, Slacker, The Last Samurai, Old School, The Decline of Western Civilization, The Graduate, Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Say Anything, Pretty in Pink, Princess Mononoke blah blah blah this list could go on ad infinitum.
My musical tastes are extremely diverse. As long as it is good, I don't care what genre it is. With that being said, it is important to note that I grew up as a punk rocker in the 80s, so many of my tastes are informed by that era. Progressive/alternative/folk /punk are staples of my musical diet. My (current) favorite musicians of all time are Robyn Hitchcock, Billy Bragg, REM, Nick Cave, Neil Young, Van Morrison etc.
Food. I love it all. :) Esp. sushi and steak. The fresher the food the better. I was a vegan once for six months. I really enjoy that kind of food, but after a time I had to return to meat. There is almost no cuisine I will turn away.
What trend will FINALLY displace the "Zombie Apocalypse" craze?
What will become of modern day journalism.
You are not tethered to another human in a romantic context.
You are cool to get to know each other gradually and see where it goes from there.
