Well I'm a student first and foremost so I spend a lot of time working on my future and making things happen. In the middle of a transition period now as I've finished the microbio half of my degree and am now knee-deep in French. French is one of my many great loves so if Frenglish bothers you, je m'excuse.
I'm a lover and a player of music, but I most likely only play music your grandpa/grandma listen too (i.e. swing era jazz, bebop, etc.) I've been a jazz trombonist for about 8 years now and a trombonist for many more. Not the sexiest instrument in looks, but I like to think it makes up for it in style points :)
I'm an amateur cook who loves a lovely assistant/co-chef so if cooking excites you, I'm your man! Love Thai food? Me too. Love spicy food? Even better!! What's life without a few tears, amiright?
I like to think I'm a good listener and definitely a good talker. If you're kind of shy, give me a try. I'm good at making conversation so no worries.
My heart belongs to animals and people alike so I love to spend a lot of time with both. I absolutely love people and want to help make as many lives better as I possibly can. If that sounds like something you'd like to do too, lets chat.
Next on the docket is the Masters in Epidemiology come this Fall. Mostly excited about that for the year I could potentially be spending in France. (Don't worry, I'll still be here for at least a year before that.)
And after that, it's off to med school followed closely by work part time in Africa where I can use my French, and the other part time most likely working on one of the outer islands where there is greater need or on a Reservation where there is always a calling for more physicians. So basically, I'm sorry ladies. I won't be the rich doctor your momma told you to marry. We'll be financially stable, but not wealthy by any monetary means. I can promise you lots of adventures tho!
I love to cook and I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it too. I cook fusion cuisine. Bold flavors are a must in my kitchen. Anything else is too boring and doesn't fit my style.
I'm definitely good at science! (Well, not so much that physics stuff, but bio and chem are my thing!) I'm a microbio major so I get to deal with all the little bugs that can cause all sorts of ailments.
I'm a pretty mean trombone player, although it's been a while since I've had time to seriously play. I play jazz and classical, but jazz is my calling when it comes to music. I fell in love with it in high school and that hasn't changed since. In that sense, I'm an old fashioned kind of guy :)
First impressions, probably that I'm genuinely nice and keep up a conversation really easily. I'm really bad at getting complicated jokes quickly and I smile a LOT, especially when I'm interested. That's probably your biggest hint ;)
Movies...hrmm, that's a tough one. I suppose a list is in order: I love The Green Mile, Boondocks Saints, Big Lebowski, Brothers Bloom, and many many more. I love a good movie!
Hrmm, shows are a little harder. I like some of those typical go to answers for best shows. Boardwalk Empire, Walking Dead, etc... but I also like a few of those more dorky shows. I love KyleXY and would love to meet a fellow enthusiast. I also really like Smallville.
Music. It's been such an integral part of my growth and development. First and foremost, my favorite music is jazz music. It's the most intricate, beautiful, and challenging music out there. Those are some real artists who've dedicated their lives to the music. It's not about fame so much as it is telling a story with musical notes. Other than jazz, I love all sorts of music. Little Boots, Regina Spektor, Squirrel Nut Zippers, all kinds of weird stuff. I enjoyed my time working for a university alternative radio station. Exploration is my M.O.
FOOOOD!!!! I love food! I mean not just food for the sake of food. I love cooking and experimenting with flavors! If I had to have a favorite food, I'd say Thai food. It's where I draw the majority of my inspiration from in the kitchen. Nothing I make is quintessential Thai, but the motifs are easy to pick up on.
Family. I know, generic, but it's so important to me. My family gets me through the worst of times and makes the best even better. That family includes the friends in my life who are like brothers and sisters and even mothers and fathers at times.
Music. It's got this terrific power to inspire me when nothing else can. If I need a pick me up or can't seem to look at a problem the right way, I pop on the headphones and let it all out.
Really bad horror movies. Weird, right? But I couldn't live without them. They can be scary enough to cuddle up to, but funny enough to stave off those bad dreams. I haven't had a nightmare in years unless you count missing a dream exam (which I do).
Laughter. Whether it's friends telling a funny story or a well done comedy, I need it to keep me sane. Life's too short not to laugh. Any moment spent laughing is a well spent moment in my book.
Spices!!!! I had to throw something about cooking in here! Spices make cooking worthwhile. Interest and intrigue blended together in perfect (or quite a few times imperfect) harmony.
You have a profound attraction to a man who speaks French
You're stable (I.E. no drug addicts, no alcoholics, partying ISN'T your life, you're not manic depressive, etc.)
You think you might like to get to know me better?
