My self-summary
Warning/clarification. I am very happily married (to sluttart). I am not cheating, nor am I a swinger. I'm not not looking for anything in particular. I'm just looking. I love adventures, and don't like to limit them by defining too much in advance.

Accurate if somewhat unflattering one-sentence description: I'm an interested party. I find people fascinating, and enjoy meeting new people and finding out what makes them tick. But I'm also easily distracted by the next puzzle to solve, which sometimes looks like disinterest.

Physically, I'm short and solid. I wrestled in high school, and it shows. I also ran long distance in high school, and that does *not* show.

Emotionally, I'm curious and adventurous, because I have a wonderful base. I don't know if I'm an agnostic polygamist or just a tomcat, but either way the stable relationship that I have allows me to safely and securely pursue other relationships without expectation or desperation.

Politically I'm a bit of a civil libertarian, but I believe that there are some matters that are handled better by a government using pooled resources than by the aggregate charity of the citizenry. I love a good political debate, but am allergic to talking points re-spouted without your own brain's refinement.

When I'm not working I'm probably either photographing (sports, bugs, or hillsides), playing xbox games, hiking, or wishing I was better at chess.
What I’m doing with my life
Slinging code for fun and profit, (slowly) writing a novel, capturing slices of life and saving them to jpeg.
I’m really good at
Finding solutions to complex problems. Whether it's finding a combination of movie and showtime for a group of 5 people with 3 different tastes in film, balancing ambition with burnout mitigation, or knowing when to smile and keep my mouth shut, I'm just the one to figure it out.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm short and wide.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
OK, time for a short list of long lists...

Favorite Books -- Anything by Jack London, The Supreme Court by William Rehnquist, anything by John Keegan or Arthur Conan Doyle. Hmm, this is turning into an author list, oops. Isaac Asimov, Gary Larson, Mark Twain, Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler.

Favorite Movies --
Most things by or with David Mamet, Alfred Hitchcock, Werner Herzog, The Marx Brothers, Fritz Lang, Brad Pitt, Clint Eastwood, The Coen Brothers, Lee Marvin.

Dark City, Zatoichi, The Jerk.
Favorite music --
* non-vocal jazz (esp Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery),

* electronica (esp DJ Shadow, Groove Armada, Infected Mushroom)

* bluegrass (but don't tell anyone)

Favorite Food --
Italian mostly, but I regard Barbacoa's steak burrito (black beans, cheese, hot, lettuce) to be the finest food purchasable in the state.
Six things I could never do without
1. Eyesight
2. The perspective of others
3. Meat
4. Emotional connection
5. Problems to solve
6. Ha ha - no sixth thing
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I wish I had a more charming answer for this... politics. I'm kind of fascinated with it because it represents most clearly the exchange that any civilization makes when it trades in some freedom for some security. There is always a tension there, and I like watching how it shifts over time. The back and forth of the talking heads and our elected leaders is fun in its way, tho I'm more interested in the slower but deeper movements of the judiciary.
On a typical Friday night I am
Pouring a nice drink for anyone who shows up wanting one, writing a preposterous web app, or staying very still (most aliens have vision that is movement-based).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a hairy back. There. I said it.
