My self-summary
I've reached the point in my life of being content and confident with who I am and what I've achieved in life. The companionship and intimacy of a good solid relationship is important to enhance the value of life's experiences, but doesn't necessarily define me. I'm financially and emotionally stable with an even temper - too much drama is just a waste of energy. I tend to avoid or want to resolve conflict, open and honest communication is important. Laughter is so important-daily. Sense of humor can also be a powerful aphrodisiac, especially if it's an inside joke with someone special.

I'm somewhat of a homebody, but enjoy a good concert (delta blues/rock/reggae), theater show, or eating out. It may be cliche, but I've discovered that life is indeed too short. We must count all our blessings, and enjoy all of life's little pleasures. Like that first sip of coffee in the morning; the smell of lilacs in the Spring or freshly cut grass in the Summer; the taste of warm apple pie; hearing a song you haven't heard in forever and enthusiastically singing along on your commute despite any looks from other commuters, or passengers...I could go on, but you get the idea.

Traditionally, I have been attracted to out-going, confident, independent, self-assured women. I also prefer to be around people who have a good sense of humor, and who don't take life's little stresses too seriously. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely empathetic, compassionate, and sensitive; particularly to those I'm closest to. I also prefer those who take care of themselves (moderation in all things, no smokers), but not necessarily fanatics about it. OK, I do believe I may be rambling. If you're interested, let's see if you'll "get me" and if there might be a connection.
What I’m doing with my life
Professionally, I'm a microbiologist ; and I know what you're thinking. And you're right, it IS a VERY cool career - I'm pretty sure the Fonz was a microbiologist, or was it Don Knotts. I don't know.......... either way, very cool. First and foremost, it is so important to be doing something that you love when making a living. I am fortunate enough to be doing that. Working in public health is rewarding in and of itself for me, and I feel I am making a contribution. Personally, I'm re-introducing myself to my guitars by playing mostly everyday.
I’m really good at
Clearly, I'm REALLY good at finding a potential mate without any assistance whatsoever.
The first things people usually notice about me
My wit I guess. My daughter has described me as the happiest person she knows. Being generally optimistic, I do tend to see the glass as half full (most of the time anyway) and have a bit of a dry sense of humor that not everyone gets. I've had my share of vacant stares, but that's ok. I don't hold it against anyone if they don't get my particular wit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The types of books and movies I like are very similar. I prefer drama, particularly from a different era, place, or culture; and thrillers. Les Miserables is my all time favorite book.

I have a particular passion for music of many genres. I like everything from classic to contemporary rock, early jazz to blues, ska and reggae, bluegrass, Mozart.....Country, ehh, I could live without. What I just don't get is heavy metal or rap.

As far as food goes, Italian is my favorite. Seafood is a close second. I do have a bit of a sweet tooth, but everything in moderation.
The six things I could never do without
mp3 player
cell phone
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The safety, welfare, and emotional well-being of my children. Secondly would be music. I usually wake up with a song in my head, and am not afraid to use it. I've also been known to randomly break into song on occasion, but not in an obnoxious way - honestly.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm a bit of a homebody, and love popping in a dvd and snuggling on the couch, or cooking a fine meal for two; but I also enjoy rocking out to a good concert (blues/rock), theater show, or dining out (especially Italian).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I hate cantaloupe. I hate everything about it-the smell, the texture, the taste. I honestly cannot comprehend the reason for it's existence. Most people find that odd. Anything more personal only comes out with time.
You should message me if
If you are looking for a genuine, honest and open person not into playing games, and you don't mind an occasional laugh.
