My self-summary
Rebellious in body, mind and spirit. Re-entered the northern hemisphere only three years ago after 2.5 decades in Southern Africa and finding the pace slow... sedentary.... decidedly swaggerless. Sexy, street smart and singularly socialist. Mother to young adults who are not looking for a father figure. Can be passionate about sex and other sport (with the exception of hockey, baseball, WWF and Formula One.... oh and Golf). Done time with heavy breathers, drugsters, drinkers, drawlers, players and liers. I know where to catch them en masse, so no need to reply if you are just another fish in that swamp!
What I’m doing with my life
I work a day job for money, not because I am committed to it. Meanwhile, I am a writer trying to dig myself out from the rubble following the collapse of my wall of confidence and self discipline. I contine to edit the work of others and do the odd piece of visual art to settle differences with myself. I am not overly ambitious, an investor in my long-term future or remotely interested in the stock market, but I scheme while I swim and sauna and dream while I cycle.
I’m really good at
getting distracted by good music, good food, good film, hard rain, heavy snow, spontaneous sex and expansive headspaces.
The first things people usually notice about me
Notice me and find out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I don't belong to favourites clubs. I will eat, read, watch and listen to just about anything. But if you insist: currently a fan of my son's grilled prawns; reading Big Box Swindle and feeling oh so vindicated for hating Walmart and all it stands for, and re-reading Genet's The Thief's Journal and wondering why I left it so long; enjoying being a newly minted fan of seasons 1 and 2 of House of Lies and The Fall; diehard fan of the Coen Brothers; and listening to Max Roach's Freedom Suite, anything from Miles Davis, and lots from Buckshot le Fonque; Thievery Corporation; Robert Glasper Experiment; Jill Scott; Tom Waits; Ricky Lee Jones; Prince; Curtis Mayfield (and/or my friend Sharron singing "I'm Here But I'm Gone" by Curtis Mayfield); Dancehall; Dubstep; Steely Dan; Hugh Masekela; Joni Mitchell; Donny Hathaway; Paul Hanmer; Letta Mbuli; Fela Kuti; Dead Prez; Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson; Bonnie Rait; Lee Perry; Oliver Mtukudzi; Salif Keita; Stevie Ray Vaughn; Buddy Guy; The Pretenders; Wu Tang Clan; Stevie Wonder; Erykah Badu; Aretha Franklin; Parliament Funkadelic; Radiohead; The Band; Chico Buarque; Aja; Jimmy Hendrix; Terence Trent D'Arby; Thandizwa Mzwai; Sade; Joan Osborne; St Germaine; Djavan; Will Downing; Marvin Gaye; Marcus Wyatt and Language 12; Bob Dylan; Nina Simone; Pink Floyd; Hendrix; Led Zepplin; Elis Regina; Milton Nascimento; The Pogues; Hot House Flowers; Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers.

Not an exhaustive list, but as lists go its long enough.
The six things I could never do without
I've lived with and without plenty, so have learned to avoid thinking in absolutes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
doing.
On a typical Friday night I am
not worrying about it being Friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is that the word "admit" implies some kind of hidden agenda. If I have one I am not ready to share it with you. If I don't then it's not private.
You should message me if
you want to start a conversation that is not all about you.
you love music and art and the poetry of Pablo Neruda
you are kinky in more ways than one
you are NOT 18-30. I don't respond to anyone who is younger than my eldest child.
you can write other than in cliches about how you are going to "rock" my world.
you have a sense of humour.... absolutely necessary if you are trawling in these spaces.
you are spontaneous and ready to risk
