My self-summary
Self-summary, huh? It's been a while since I've had to sum myself up in a paragraph. Let's give it a try...

I know they say you're an introvert or an extrovert, but I feel like I defy the rules of the known universe because I love hanging out with friends and having drunken downtown adventures at 3am just as much as I love sitting alone in my apartment nursing a beer and rushing valiantly toward a deadline that I know I won't meet.

I love meeting new people, particularly flirting with them, and find it easy to like practically every person I encounter on a daily basis. I laugh easily, grin constantly, make friends quickly and have a sense of humour that either scores a big laugh or an awkward, "did he just say that?" silence that I find just as invigorating.

What can I say, boys? I'm a long-neglected catch. ;)
What I’m doing with my life
I am a legit working screenwriter, currently in the midst of revisions on what will hopefully be my first produced film, as long as expected funding comes through. Cross your fingers for me! I also work in webseries and apps.

I'm ambitious and hardworking, constantly juggling a handful of fun, interesting projects that eat up a lot of my time. Though I can't yet live off my script work, I've started to earn decent money at it, which is very, very exciting.

I'm a Grad student at York, currently a semester into getting my MFA in Screenwriting. Kind of loving it.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at connecting with people. I'm a friendly, comfortable guy, so it's pretty rare I'll encounter someone I can't strike up a good conversation with. Part of that is I genuinely love meeting new people; the other part being I love collecting secrets to use in elaborate blackmail schemes.

Some days I think I'm pretty good at writing, while other days I am absolutely convinced I'm terrible. You be the judge, my friend.
The first things people usually notice about me
If I've gotten my hair cut in the past six months, I like to think it's my eyes (my best feature by a landslide) and my facial expressions, as I love getting a reaction out of a sly grin, a self-deprecating wince, or an amused chuckle.

If I haven't gotten my hair cut in six months, all you will see is my glorious, untamed mane of unruly golden hair. Why mention this at all? Because I'm prone to putting off haircuts until the last possible moment until I look vaguely, well-washedly homeless.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a television obsessive (of course, I'm devoting my life to writing it!), so that'll go first. The classics are Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friday Night Lights (minus season two), Breaking Bad, In Treatment, Battlestar Galactica, Arrested Development, and lots more I'll edit into this once I remember. Currently my watching habits range from intense cable offerings like Masters of Sex, Game of Thrones and Mad Men, shlocky but fun fare like Teen Wolf and Da Vinci's Demons, to fun sci-fi like Orphan Black, cute dramedy courtesy of Hart of Dixie, and great character drama like The Good Wife and The Americans. And comedy! Parks and Rec, Archer, Community, and a cult hit I doubt you know called Aliens in America. You name it, I've probably seen it.

Latest love: HBO's gay-themed dramedy Looking. I sympathize so much with Jonathan Groff's character it hurts.

Books: I've got a few I always go back to. The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat (Oliver Sacks), White Oleander (Janet Fitch), Wicked (Gregory Maguire), Wild Swans (Jung Chang), and The Robber Bride (Margaret Atwood).

Movies: I grew up on the delights of Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro). Now my favourites include a smattering of quirky romances (Juno, Weekend, Once, Plan B) and character pieces (Little Miss Sunshine), visual epics (Millennium Actress, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Hero), fun actioners (Kill Bill, Mr. And Mrs. Smith) and the classics I fell in love with as a kid (Back to the Future, Ever After, Charlie's Angels).

Music: A bit of a mix of indie rock / folk rock, and flat-out lowest common denominator pop. Current favourites include Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, My Latest Novel, Andrew Bird, Maroon 5, Ellie Goulding, dashes of Rihanna, Gaga and early 00's pop playlists on Songza. Favourite record to listen over and over to at the moment is the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby.

Food: I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy, though I'm expanding my palette. I love chicken, pork (souvlaki!!), beef, seafood, the whole nine yards. Engaged in year 22 of my war with vegetables. They've won some key victories lately - I now munch on raw red peppers for a snack (best: with a cold beer).
Six things I could never do without
My phone (which contains my music, email, files, essentially my whole life), my laptop, a notebook and pen, a MetroPass... that about covers it.

Oh. And family and friends, of course.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Particularly stories I want to tell and characters I want to explore, but also the zeitgeist, the internet and social media, the people in my life and how to solve their problems and/or spend time with them, analysing and combating my own character flaws (currently, self-centredness), death, the meaning of life, the state of my apartment, what I'll eat next, and Twitter. Always Twitter.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either downing an energy drink and riding a creative high through a particularly exciting script, or surrounded by friends in my living room watching this month's "you HAVE to watch this!" show I've convinced (er, forced) them to check out. Currently The Good Wife.

One thing I'd like to do more is go out. Grab a beer at a bar and hang out. Or, wander the streets of the city in the summer warmth, with good conversation. Not a common Friday fate for me at the moment, but every day is a chance to change our habits, right?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When looking at your profile, my 'make or break' section is your favourite TV shows. I am *literally* more attracted to you if we love the same shows.
You should message me if
You should message me if you want someone to grab a noncommittal beer with; if you think I sound like someone you'd like to get to know; if you're bored and out of things to watch on Netflix; if you want someone to watch Netflix with; if you are a fan of TV and want someone to geek out with; if you're a new fan of TV and need a guided education about what to watch; if you want to wander the city with a bit of alcohol in your system and have an adventure. If you like new friends or maybe someone to roll around in the hay with, or even make out a bunch with.

Basically, message me if you want to. ;) Looking forward to it.
