My self-summary
I am Christian. I don't believe in forcing religion on anyone, and I tend to be very relaxed about talking on the topic with others. In fact, I most likely will not bring it up unless asked. That said, I also believe strongly in the values espoused by Christianity; oh to have a code of honor in our society! I find that a personal relationship with God is far more important than anything else... and that just being kind to others is a far better method of outreach than trying to talk about the bible right away. It is sad, that so often the focus is on those who try to scare people, rather than those that show love and compassion.
I enjoy many types of music, from classic rock to metal, some country, some jazz, a lot of blues, and some classical. I have started a collection of art books. I love to read books and to relax every once in a while. More recently I am working on getting back into better shape. Sadly that lapsed a little as I focused on getting into my career.
I tend to be an independant thinker. I firmly believe that far too many people just believe what they are told, and never question it! I have a firm enjoyment of learning, and I am constantly working on learning something new. I've self-taught myself a very basic understanding of several languages, and a little bit about metallurgy, in the last year. Really, it's whatever strikes my fancy on a given day!
I largely self-educated through public schooling (Seriously, too easy) and never went to an official college. I have some credits from training for jobs... and could probably finish a degree easily if I decided to do so. I just never really felt the need. It's more fun, and more effective, to just start looking up something and learn it!
I enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen is a ton of fun. Making something new, that may never have been made before is a thrill! I usually end up with a new dish at the end of experiments... but every now and then I just decide I had a bad idea. Some things just should not be made!!!
What I’m doing with my life
I am working with a new career and enjoying the change! I'm also cooking, enjoying getting to spend time with family, having fun, and getting into better shape.
I’m really good at
Cooking. I started young, and just decided I enjoy cooking... so now I can make just about anything. I'm a bit inventive in the kitchen, with a number of successful creations having made the rounds across family cookbooks.
I also specialize in altering foods slightly to make them easier or more familiar. Examples include things like Gyro pizza and turning a cream cheese dip into a filling using Nilla Wafers to make sandwiches.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a big person. I'm not in bad shape... just built very large, and I often get intimidated reactions from people. I am not thrilled about the reactions, but I guess I can understand.
Often people notice that I act 'gentlemanly.' I do, after all, try to do things like hold doors for people and just offer little courtesies!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
a. Anything entertaining or useful. I like a variety of books, and tend to read frequently. For enjoyment I tend to lean toward fantasy novels (escape from reality ftw!)

b. Anything with an interesting plot! I got tired long ago of watching the same old recycled gunk that comes out all too often. If there is a good comedy, action, or drama then I am glad to watch it.

c. I'm fairly open... but I refuse to listen to music that is focused on a message I have no interest in. For me, this tends to include songs that use insulting terms about people, talk only about $$, or are focused on activities that I would find offensive (like murder, drugs, etc.)

d. I like a variety. I have been trying to eat healthier, and so I have a lot of whole grains, fruits, and veggies. I'm currently hooked on a roast turkey and provolone sandwich with tomato, onion, lettuce, and cucumber... made it one day for fun and have been loving it since! When I spoil myself, I like things like Gyros, Chicken Milano, and 'Cream of Potato soup stuffed portabello' (another creation of mine.)
Six things I could never do without
Food, air, water, sleep, friends, and family.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
New things to learn about. Which places I want to go to on trips... priority listing where sounds fun! New combinations of foods to try out. How wonderful friends are.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes I'm out with friends, or otherwise busy, but generally my fridays are made up of the choice of what to cook, what to entertain myself with, and/or going to work. I was never much of a bar/club person... I'd rather spend time with people I know and like.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I detest pro sports. The officiating is so bad I can barely stand to watch when I run into it at times. I don't really like to yell and get upset about things like that, so I just try to avoid it most of the time.
You should message me if
You are looking for someone who is: a gentleman, fairly attractive, willing to compromise, loves kids, will do housework, a non-smoker, likes to talk things out rather than yell, is willing to spend time on you; and you are: a non-smoker, willing to talk and compromise, and (Shocker here) you want to.
