My self-summary
Hello all!

I just moved to Michigan one or two years ago, but I've been preoccupied with school and don't know too many people here yet. So I'm hoping to meet interesting people in the area and make some friends. If you're into that, don't hesitate to message me!

I like reading, particularly books about history. I also like politics and current events, since these are history in progress. I have recently become interested in reading more literature as well. I'm also big fan of science and technology, especially things related to computers.

I enjoy movies, TV shows, and anime, though I watch them infrequently these days. I also like playing video games when I have the time, especially RPG or strategy games. I like hiking, and I want to start doing it more often someday.

I am not a follower of any religious tradition, but I like a lot of the ideas in Buddhism. I have found the meditation traditions associated with this to be very interesting and useful.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated UC Irvine, as a double major in quantitative economics and sociology. I minored in philosophy, statistics, and math.

Right now, I am a graduate student studying for my PhD in statistics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
I’m really good at
Reading, writing, and 'rithmetic.

I guess also logic. Some of my friends and family have nicknamed me "Spock." I'm not sure the nickname is quite accurate, but I did win $100 once for debating a philosophy professor from Loyola Marymount to a stalemate one time, which was pretty awesome.

I'm an expert at making a fool of myself, especially in public...
The first things people usually notice about me
People have a tendency to think I'm much younger than I am when they first see me. Also, apparently I have a tendency to be LOUD without noticing when I get excited about something...
The six things I could never do without
1. Friends and Family
2. Internet
3. Computers
4. Books
...I can't really think of much else. I guess food and water? That's not very informative though.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Cool things, like history, philosophy, methodology for science, social science, politics, technology, books, music, video games, and occasionally movies and TV shows. People I care about.
On a typical Friday night I am
In my underground volcano lair building an army of killer robots to conquer the known world. Curing cancer, diabetes, malaria and erectile dysfunction with a single pill that you can order from me for only 5 easy payments of $19.99. Working part time as a troll plundering passersby under the Golden Gate bridge to put myself through college. Fighting crime with the help of my trusty sidekick and a gigantic tuning fork. Hanging out with friends before going back to my room to do my homework.

Believe whichever of these is the most interesting to you.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't have a car, so I can't really go to any place that's too far from the University of Michigan campus.
You should message me if
You want to. Or if you don't want to, but are easily convinced by ironic entries in people's profiles. Or you're just really bored. I mean really, what do you have to lose?
