I'm a major geek/nerd. There are very few things you can name about your typical nerd that I cannot claim to have tried at some point. That said I still enjoy sports and hanging out like a typical guy. If you are into hockey, then I imagine we'd get along great. I'm looking forward to seeing the Indy have a professional team next season, even if it's developmental league.
I tend to be very direct. If you ask me a question I'll usually answer it even if I know the answer isn't what you want to hear. If that's not what you want, don't ask. I try to be tactful, I just would rather answer honestly and discuss why I feel/think that way than beat around the bush to avoid a conflict.
I try to be an open book in that anything you ask me I'm more than willing to share (even if I've never met you). I do try to avoid bringing up certain topics, like religion, because I've found that my opinions can offend/annoy people and they suddenly don't want to talk any more. But if you don't mind what I have to say I'll answer any question. I can be very opinionated, my father taught me to never think you're wrong unless someone proves it to you, but I do listen to what other people have to say. And while I always think I'm right, if you prove me wrong, note the word prove, I will admit it, and often apologize if I've been overly-vehement.
As for what I'm looking for, I'm looking for someone to date and have fun with mostly. I'm not looking to dive into something serious right away, that's just not the way I work. I prefer to start off as dating, getting to know each other, and if it naturally grows to something more serious, great. I want to be with someone and settle down eventually, but I'm not looking for someone to start talking about settling down with immediately. I'm just enjoying my life right now and looking for someone to spend time with. If you can introduce me to new hobbies or activities, all the better.
Oh and if you are still reading, my name is Jared, Rullerr is a handle I've used for quite a few years now on various sites.
I LARP about once a month. It's like a combination of Renn Faire and improv theater. I'm trying to get into a workout routine to help keep me in shape.
Outside of fun I've been working with computers most of my life so I tend to be knowledgeable on them. But I'm always trying to get to know more. I've been getting compliments about my cooking lately too.
Personality wise, it's probably my frankness. It can come across as kinda akward/shy, but that's not really what it is. There is nothing I consider off limits, so I prefer to listen for a bit so I get to know the other person/people's limits so that I can avoid upsetting them right away. But if you're willing to listen I'll talk your ear off.
Movies: Dark Knight is in my opinion the best movie since I was born. I'm a fan of all of Kevin Smith's movies except Jersey Girl. Boondock Saints, Scott Pilgrim vs The World (though it suffers from odd pacing), The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Social Network. I can enjoy any movie most of the time, but there are some movies I can watch again and again.
Shows: Soooo many. Top are probably Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Sherlock, 2 Broke Girls, Supernatural, Adventure Time, Community, and Archer.
Music: 80's and early 90's rock, some rap, mostly whatever's on the radio that hasn't been overplayed to death. Country in very small doses. Orchestral is nice, but I can't name any songs. I'm starting to enjoy the more folksy sounding bands like Mumford and Sons that are playing on the radio lately.
Food: Chinese, Mexican, Creole, Indian, and most ethinic foods. I'm a country boy so good home cooking I like, but I don't often order it when I'm out because it just doesn't measure up. I like a wide variety, but nothing too sweet. I rarely eat sweets.
Caffeine, sorry I'm an addict.
My friends, they keep me sane when I'm going crazy
My family, they are the most amazing support system for whatever I need.
Movies, even bad ones give me something to do when I get bored out of my mind
Somewhere to call home, just somewhere I know I can relax and be me. My home is the place I feel most comfortable, and without that I'd just retreat inwards looking for that comfort.
Also, you'll have to be into nerdy guys, I'm proud to be a nerd.
