My self-summary
Well, I guess for starters: I've been described as big-hearted, irreverent, easy-going, a true original and surprisingly authentic. In my time on this earth I've taught running clinics, immigrated to Canada from Czechosolvakia (that's what it was called when I lived there!), managed an ice-cream bike franchise, renovated a bathroom, played in a number of bands, ridden 24-hour mountain bike (relay) races and skied in some of the best places around... among other things.

I believe in close relationships(both romantic and platonic) and what that adds to life. Im close to my family and a handful of close friends. I'm a monogamist by nature. I know that in these times of endless options and unclear rules... this can be difficult and I accept that, but that's my preference. I believe in kindness to people and animals, and although not a vegetarian, the meat in my fridge had a good life. :)

I'm looking to date someone who finds the above interesting, but who can also expose me to new things. In relationship, some things that are important to me are: Kindness / warmth, respect and communication. Those are the basics for me, and I think that everything else can be built off of those. Also... I'm Jewish by birth, but don't practice.

Here's hoping for the best on this crazy site!
What I’m doing with my life
"I'm a software engineer." World's greatest conversation killer.
I’m really good at
Relationships with my family / friends / co-workers.
Running
Guitar
Biking
Skiing
Cooking
Long, drawn out conversations.
Home renovations.
Various IT things.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I look like John Malkovitch or Peter Russo (from House of Cards).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Some books I've enjoyed recently are The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and Daring Greatly by Brene Brown, Creativity Inc (Ed Catmull - the creator of Pixar) and An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth (Chris Hadfield) and am currently reading Birdie by Tracey Langford and The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels. On the flip side of things I really enjoy dark graphic novels like The Walking Dead and some of the more adult Batman / Punisher work. Finally, I really enjoy David Sedaris' sense of humour and actually managed to see him speak once.

I'm not the world's biggest movie buff these days, but I am a big fan of Pixar animated movies. I'm also happy to just about anything suggested to me (by people - not the oddly picked Netflix suggestions). I managed to see a couple of movies at TIFF this summer and loved them ("Lolo" and "The Paradise Suite"). Just to balance things out, I'll round out my movie "repertoire" with blockbuster action flicks in the theatre like Star Wars or The Hunger Games.

TV: Current favourites are the usual suspects: "House of Cards", "Community", "Portlandia", "Zoo", "30 Rock".

Music: Musically I've always been partial to a mix of rock, experimental jam bands, country and rootsy Americana. I'm not so much into the indy / electronica scene, but I don't throw a fit if I don't like what someone's playing. :)

Food: I love pretty much anything that doesn't involve entrails or eyeballs but I do love Haggis. I think living in Toronto makes you into a bit of a foodie.
The six things I could never do without
Guitars
Cheese Danishes
Running shoes
My mountain bike
Mountains
Lakes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Funny things that people say, the next renovation I'm going to do, how to live life more authentically.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday is generally my relaxation night, but that said it doesn't usually take much to convince me to do something. I like to come home, cook, play guitar or watch a movie. Otherwise I like to head out to a local pub with friends or maybe a movie or a baseball game (although I didn't manage tickets this year!).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm bald. Seriously, this is the Internet.
You should message me if
I'm looking for a meaningful relationship. So if there's a connection, I like to follow that vibe and see where it leads, find out what drives people and get to know them. I don't have an issue being vulnerable, and I'm looking for the same in a partner

Furthermore: If You understand that subway doors aren't for standing in and move to the inside seat on the TTC, I think we'll get along. :)

Finally: Although I don't obsess about it, health and fitness are priorities for me so I am looking for that in a partner as well. If you're looking for the above in a guy who'll treat you nicely and poke fun at you at the same time drop me a line. :)
