Coffee dates are for people who don't want to be around each other. I've never gotten coffee with someone and thought "this is really nice."
My standards aren't that different from a job interviewer's standards-- you should have a college degree, no criminal record, a good head on your shoulders, and no crazy/excessive tattoos, piercings, nail polish, or bizarre clothing. It's really sad that I have to mention these, but... yeah, you'd be surprised.
I don't really have a ""type" but but I like clean-cut guys that are comfortable socializing with new people. I usually date guys a little older with type-A personalities. You should be able to hang out at lounges or dive bars, and know the latest gossip on both Britney and Obama. Quirky is good. Weird is not.
