My self-summary
I am a positive, sweet, irreverent, original, big-picture kind of girl.

I grew up in the Bay Area and the Sierras (Truckee) and feel a strong affinity for the ocean and the mountains. I love skiing and used to do freestyle and downhill racing; now I take it a little slower, but I still bomb down the mountain past the gapers.

I am observant, inquisitive, and take notice of little things in nature that most people don't see. I feel at home outside.

Every time I laugh, it's different! Talk about animated. I am sassy and spontaneous. A social chameleon.

Trained pianist who stopped practicing in college. Now I'm hand drumming, listening to Pandora like a fiend, and singing harmonies with my friends (real and imagined).
What I’m doing with my life
I relocated to Silicon Valley in early 2015 for a new job as a technical writer. I also run a non profit. If you're super curious (snore), I'll give you my LinkedIn profile.
I’m really good at
Finding the silver lining. Things could always be worse.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes. I usually make eye contact kind of intensely. I have sensuous lips.

I'm tall and round.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My profile was getting long so I've whittled it down to three answers per category.

Books: A Separate Reality. Moby Dick. The Power of Now.

Movies: Contact. Se7en. The Fifth Element.

Shows: The Wire. Game of Thrones. House of Cards. (And so many more.)

Pandora stations: First Aid Kit. Muse. Gorillaz.

Food: Pie/tart. Tuna sandwiches. Burgers.
The six things I could never do without
Besides family and friends (duh) there's

Interwebs/mobile networkses
Vegetables and fruit
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Science, evolution, education, and outreach
How beautiful is this land called Tahoe!
What I'm cooking for dinner
Which beer should I order?
Why isn't anyone else dancing?
On a typical Friday night I am
1. Heading up to Tahoe, or
2. Snuggling deep under the covers with dogs and/or friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cried during Titanic AND Free Willy...
You should message me if
I'm not seeking perfection. You can be smart and funny, good looking, or whatever, but I really am into people who live in the moment, who are actually interested in what I'm saying and aren't waiting for the next pause so they can try to impress me with their knowledge of history or science, or conspiracies, or whatever. I will definitely not lecture at you about what I know or my beliefs or myself; I am much more interested in learning about what makes you tick, drawing parallels between our experiences, and commenting on things going on around us and in the world. And cracking up about it.

I have a terrible memory and love spontaneity, so I stay present and aware instead of buried in the past or speculating about the future (although that can be a fun game sometimes). Our conversation style (how fluid it is; do we spend equal amounts of time talking; do we ask each other lots of questions; does it make us smile, ponder, connect) is usually the deciding factor of how frequently I want to hang with someone, regardless of how awesome things are in the sack. If you have the gift of feeling out other people in conversation and adjusting your roll, I'd like to meet you. I'm not sure if that just made sense, but if you get it, message me.
