My self-summary
Yes, this profile is r-e-e-e-e-e-e-a-a-a-a-a-lly long, I put quite a bit of effort into it too.

You're welcome to skip down to the 'you should message me if...' section as that's where the important stuff is anyway.

A Myers-Briggs INFJ with an Enneagram of 4w3: I'd describe myself as (mostly) happy, intuitive, self aware, independent and emotionally complete.

I am pretty happy with my life, I have love, I have laughter and companionship, so I can't complain! :)

I take great pleasure in the sharing of thoughts and ideas with others. I love to listen. And to talk. To absorb other viewpoints, to challenge and to have my own opinions dissected is a wonderful thing.

I have an amazing, funny, caring and very clever 11 year old son who is, naturally, the love of my life. We love getting muddy, having adventures, playing boardgames and being silly. It's been me and him against the world for over half of his life now, and I am understandably very protective of him and his feelings. You probably won't be meeting.

Other things I love:

Stargazing - I love the night sky. A clear night will often see me out somewhere in The Peaks with a blanket and binoculars (and tea and cake) looking skyward.

Physics and science-y stuff in general - I own and read a of physics and cosmology books and find that the more I understand physics, the less I understand the universe, which I find to be both fascinating and frustrating in equal measure.

Poetry - My favourite poem is Love is a Parallax by Sylvia Plath. Closely followed by Eloisa to Abelard by Alexander Pope and Not Waving but Drowning by Stevie Smith.

General Geekery - sci-fi, B Movies, Fighting Fantasy books, D&D, cool boardgames and gaming. I'm also desperate to give LARPing a try, if anyone wants to help me out? :)
What I’m doing with my life
Working (I work with women on the fringes of society and have done so since 2002), spending time with the people I love, overthinking, reading, chatting to old people at bus stops, avoiding emotional leaches and meditating like a boss.

And, although any serious travel had previously been put on hold until my son was old enough to cope with long flights and countless hours sat in departure lounges - I'm saving hard for our trip to Ushuaia in 2018. We're very, very excited! :D
I’m really good at
Some of the things I have recently been told that I'm good at include: making time for others, making those close to me feel loved, cared for and secure, kissing, squealing, not doing as I'm told and enjoying the consequences, snuggling, baking and making people laugh.

If I was to say what I'm really good at, it'd probably be: sideways thinking, pub quizzes and appreciating what I have.
The first things people usually notice about me
Possibly the specs. Or the majestic fringe. Although my brother reckons its the fact that I look like a chubby owl...so who knows?!

I've got Spaced, Flight of the Conchords Garth Merenghi's Dark Place Kingdom Hospital and Black Books on DVD and they're all ace as far as I'm concerned.

Favourite food? Ohhh I love to cook. And eat. Good food with great company is a gorgeous thing. There's not much I dislike, I'd say that I'm quite an adventurous eater and if there's something on the menu that looks interesting, I'll generally give it a go.
The six things I could never do without
Assuming that air, water and food are a given, and that I can include people and things other than just possessions then it would be:

My Son
My Family & Friends
Good conversation
My books

I did more than 6 because I'm a rebel :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The Universe and our place in it: Stars, Black Holes, Strings, Loops, Membranes, the probability of time travel via wormholes, Multiverse Theory- it drives me crazy and it keeps me awake at night, but I'm utterly fascinated and a little sad that multiverse me(s) is having a better time than the me in this universe!
On a typical Friday night I am
Mostly harmless.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
...is that I'm an open book so nothing about me is particularly private.
You should message me if
you know what's good for you!
-shakes fist-

I'm looking for lovely souls to date for dating's sake, people to care for and to be cared about in return, afternoon pub/tea shop/cafe buddies for people watching and conversation, somebody to wander to nowhere inparticular with...

...and it's clichéd but true: looks matter little to me. The most important thing is that you are open, honest and trustworthy and that we have a connection. It'd be cool if we have similar tastes in music/films/books (I'd also love for you to open my eyes to new things and hopefully I'll do the same for you!) and you consider yourself to be self aware, geeky, compassionate, assertive, funny and intelligent. It'd also be nice if you had a well thought out profile that really says something about you. Oh, and have a face photo too, for fuck sake.

You also really should live close enough to Manchester for us to actually be able to meet...I'm a friendly sort and will happily exchange messages with whoever would like to, but ultimately I want real-life friends, dates and lovers- not online ones! :)

And finally,if you've happened upon my profile, seen that we have lots of things in common but you're not sure whether chatting to or dating someone who may have differing ideas of love and relationships to your own is for you, come and talk anyway, ask some questions, I won't be offended.
