My self-summary
I enjoy writing, art, music, movies, and discussing these things. It takes me a while to open up to others, but when I do, I'm very smart, attentive, and caring. I'm also obsessed with serial killers and other violent criminals. My obsessive interests are linked to my mild case of Asperger's Syndrome.
What I’m doing with my life
Learning about serial killers. Reading, reading, and reading more. Writing, and trying to get something published. Trying to be more comfortable around others.
I’m really good at
Observing, discussing movies and books.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told I'm very attractive (avoiding cruder terms), and that I seem a bit distant.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A) The French Lieutentant's Woman, The Catcher in the Rye, The Stranger, Flowers of Evil, The Collector, A Room of One's Own, various crime and serial killer books; authors Sinclair Lewis, John Fowles, Albert Camus, Ian McEwan, Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath, Edgar Allan Poe, Andre Gide, Nelson Algren, Martin Amis; if you're familiar with Bertrand Russell, I would very likely enjoy talking to you
B) I am a huge movie buff: Blue Velvet, Taxi Driver, Psycho, Secretary, Nightcrawler, Good Night and Good Luck, Aguirre: The Wrath of God, Cave of Forgotten Dreams (a fascinating documentary from Werner Herzog about prehistoric cave art), Sunset Boulevard, Goodfellas, The Godfather, L.A. Confidential, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Laura, Night of the Hunter, Contempt, Taxidermia (a Hungarian film; watch at your own risk, I guarantee you've never seen anything like it)
C) Nick Cave, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Nine Inch Nails, Suzanne Vega, Concrete Blonde, Bob Dylan, The Smiths, Bauhaus, Velvet Underground, Bad Religion
D) Pizza, Italian, Indian, Mexican. I hate sushi.
Favorite TV shows: Hannibal, Archer, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Better Call Saul, Sons of Anarchy, Community, Rick and Morty, Sherlock, Investigation Discovery. I'm very late, but I just got into Game of Thrones.
Six things I could never do without
Books, music, my journal, sex, my cat Cobalt, solitude
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, existence, sex, crime, whether or not I will ever achieve my goals; what I want out of a relationship, and that monogamy may not be for me
On a typical Friday night I am
At home reading, at a movie or having drinks with friends. Lately, I've been spending most Friday nights at home alone.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've found that I tend to push them away without intending to or even realizing I'm doing it. It's something I'm trying to improve about myself.
Also, sometimes, when I'm at home, and I've been drinking, I sing along to Amy Winehouse.
And, since this apparently surprises and/or angers some people, I don't particularly like Star Wars.
You should message me if
You're the same kind of bad as me. Or if you get that reference.
You can handle someone with a serial killer obsession, and someone who can be distant or awkward at times. You like unusual books, movies, or other arts. You have interests besides your job and the gym (that appears to be a rarity in the DC area).
Not to be a snob, but I would prefer it if staunch Republicans and disciples of Ayn Rand (and there seem to be a lot of them on here) did not message me. No personal offense, I just don't think we would get along. The same thing if you have ever unironically used the term "friend zone."
I often take a day or two to respond to messages. Not only am I busy, it takes me a while to consider whether I want to respond, and think about what I want to say. Just something I need to add, especially if you're the type who sends an "Oh, well, I guess you're not interested" type of message if you don't get a response within an hour.
