My self-summary
I'm a hard-working, thoughtful type of guy from the American Midwest who moved here to Stuttgart for work last year. I can be kind of quiet and reserved; however, I am very attentive and enjoy experiencing new things. I especially enjoy traveling and have visited nearly fifty countries and have circled the globe. For me, travel is great because it facilitates the sharing of ideas in a complex, globalized world, while learning about other cultures. Plus, it's cool to see where history was made.

Back in the real world, I'm lucky to work in a niche field that I find interesting. I'm looking for someone else who shares my curiosity about the world and how it works. I'm a big believer in random acts of kindness and especially enjoy thoughtful conversations.

I enjoy listening to music and had played the sax back in high school. I also like to go to the movies and am a big fan of comedy and the occasional blockbuster action film. I'm good at trivia games and not bad at Scrabble.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Kafka's "The Trial" is my favorite book because it mirrors my political philosophy. Malcolm Gladwell and Bill Bryson are excellent. I especially enjoyed Walter Isaacson's bio on Steve Jobs.

Movies: Anything with Steve Carell or Will Ferrell; Bond 007 movies; Bourne Identity trilogy; and random comedies.

Shows: Breaking Bad; Dexter; Family Guy; Parks and Recreation; and The Office. Hard to keep up with the U.S. shows being here in Deutschland.

Music: Almost anything; however, I tend to download a lot of what ends up being labelled "alternative rock." Foo Fighters, Radiohead, etc.

Food: I like Mexican and Italian food the most; never really developed a taste for Indian food or Ethiopian. German food is especially good; however, I don't understand the trend toward unnecessarily adding curry to stuff.
