My self-summary
Open-hearted idealist who always prefers naivety to cynicism. Heart beats strongly for human and animal rights, queerness and dreams of a better world.

Has no desire to create baby humans but gets alarmingly soppy over baby animals. Thinks way too much, needs to dance way more. Loves travel and new experiences. A lot geekier than people expect. Internet addict. Gamer. Carries towel on May 25th. Sings karaoke with much pleasure and few inhibitions. Loves being on stage and has done somewhat diverse things up there - Shakespeare, drag show, poetry slam.

Bilingual since age of three, grew up in Botswana, England and Sweden. Culturally enriched but slightly identitally confused.
Pet peeve: people who regard certain forms of culture as superior to others. I love T.S. Eliot and I love Stephen King. There is no better, there is different.

Stephen Fry is probably my favourite person in the world.

Oh, and I'm polyamorous. That means I have the inclination, ability and wish to not limit myself to sharing love with only one other person, and do not wish to limit my loves/darlings in that respect either. Monogamy does not live in my heart.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as an editor and speaker for audio newspapers and books. While I enjoy that, I want to combine it with something that enables me to work from home and work with what I love most: words, words, words. So I went back to University and got a degree in Translation Studies, and am now a freelance translator as well.
In what free time I have I love reading, playing the piano, singing and hanging out with human and animal friends. I am very much in love with a new hobby - LARPing! That is, live action role playing, aka tapping into the imaginative playfulness of childhood. It's awesome.
Also, I am an avid activist - for the past ten years, I have been involved in the GLBT/queer movement on different levels. Have done a lot of bi activism, now am more geared towards poly activism.
I’m really good at
doing things with words
getting along with people
organising projects
making yummy pancakes
making people feel good
finding information

getting exasperated with OkCupid's questions and barking "It depends on how you define it!" at my computer
The first things people usually notice about me
My voice. It's deep, it carries, it serves me very very well. Except when I try to make a discreet, low aside and realise everyone in the room heard it. Also, that I have a hell of a lot of hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Neil Gaiman, Shakespeare, Maeve Binchy, Jasper Fforde, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, T.S. Eliot, Lewis Carroll, Stephen King, Inger Edelfeldt, Michael Connelly, China Miéville, Tanith Lee, C.S. Lewis and oh so many more.

Movies: David Lynch, Jeunet/Caro, Wim Wenders, horror (The Cell!), good feelgood movies (Peter's Friends, Mamma Mia), M. Night Shyamalan.

Shows? I love musicals. Björn & Benny and Andrew Lloyd Webber par préference, as well as, of course, Les Mis. And Eurovision is a guilty, and nerdy, favourite pleasure of mine.
Oh, do they mean TV? In that case, hands down favourite QI, then Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Buffy, RuPaul's Drag Race, Friends, Twin Peaks, West Wing, Last chance to see.

Music: sucker for singer-songwriters, all time favourite: Leonard Cohen. Also Jacques Brel, JUliet Turner, Elton John, Sinéad O'Connor, sweet pop like Belle and Sebastian, dark pop like The National, and an eclectic bundle of other stuff, for example Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, Emmylou Harris, Jesus & Mary Chain, Beatles, First Aid Kit, The Ark, Bonnie Prince Billy, David Bowie, Suede, Pulp, Pink Floyd, Detektivbyrån, Depeche Mode...

Food: I am a vegetarian for ethical reasons. I'd like to be vegan and will try to make the transition at some point. Just read "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer and I say WHOAH. Eating habits are not a deal breaker for me, I can definitely date meat-eaters and will not preach, but unwillingness to think about and discuss eating habits is a deal breaker.
Six things I could never do without
Computer, cats, cigarettes, coffee, books, laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Morality and how to be a good person, why slash fiction is so darn hot, cunning linguistics.
The two of us
